WELL I FINALLY REACHED A POINT IN MY BUILD THAT I AM READY TO DISPLAY MY PROGRESS ON BUILDING THE ULTIMATE DITCH BANGER. ITS NOT MUCH TO LOOK AT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN TO PAINT YET BUT THOSE STEPS ARE GETTING CLOSER EVERYDAY.
HERE IS HOW IT ALL BEGAN. THIS SLED STARTED ITS LIFE AS A 1995 POLARIS INDY XLT 580. AFTER BLOWING UP THE MOTOR 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS I DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO GET AWAY FROM THE TRIPLES AND INSTALL A MORE RELIABLE MOTOR. I FOUND A 670cc ROTAX MOTOR OUT OF A BANGED UP MXZ, AND STUFFED THAT INTO THE CHASSIS. HAD TO BUILD A ONE OFF MOTOR PLATE TO LINE IT ALL UP. ALSO GRABBED THE SC10 FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION OUT OF THE MXZ. MUCH BETTER THAN THE STOCK 8 INCH SUSPENSION THAT THE SLED CAME WITH. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICS I FABRICATED A SET OF ALUMINUM RUNNING BOARDS THAT ARE PROBABLY THE BEST ADD ON THAT THIS SLED RECEIVED. THEY ARE 7 INCHES ALL THE WAY BACK AND OFFER THE BEST TRACTION FOR THE AGGRESSIVE RIDING THAT I DO. NEXT WAS TO CUT THE DEAD WEIGHT OF THE STOCK SEAT AND REPLACE IT WITH A MOTOCROSS SEAT FROM AN '07 SUZUKI RM250. FOR THIS I HAD TO CREATE A SUBFRAME IN ORDER TO GET THE PROPER SEAT HEIGHT THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. I TEND TO STAND ABOUT 95% OF THE TIME THAT I RIDE SO I NEEDED TO GET A LITTLE ADDED HEIGHT ON THE BARS SO AGAIN I FABED UP A CUSTOM 8" RISER TO MEET THE HEIGHT I NEEDED. IT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS SO AS I GET A LITTLE FARTHER I WILL BE SURE AND POST NEW PICS. GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK ON WHAT YOU THINK.
