Sitting on the seat facing forward

This is the brake lever, located on the left handlebar. By squeezing the handle, it activates the caliper under the hood, causing the machine to slow.

The silver switch on the left is the ACC control on older Polaris models. ACC is the accessories switch, which controls hand and thumb warmers. The black lever on the right is the choke, which is to be used for starting.

This is the key switch. Used for stopping engine, starting it if your machine is equipped with electric start and to aid in anti-theft.

This is a mechanical fuel gauge. When the fuel quantity in the tank changes, the position of the float changes, causing the needle in the end of the gauge to move.

This is the starter handle/rope. You pull it to start the engine if you do not have electric start.

This is the speedometer. Snowmobile speedometers are not usually accurate. They are just to give you an idea of how many miles are approximately on the machine and approximately how fast you are going. It is not as accurate as the speedometer in your car or truck.

This is the tachometer. Snowmobile tachometers are usually quite accurate. It gives you a reading of how many revolutions per minute (RPM) the crankshaft is turning.

This is a tether. Few snowmobiles are shipped with one, but you can install one on pretty much any machine. You attatch one end of the cord to your body and if you happen to fall off the machine, the tether acts as a kill switch and the engine dies.

This is the throttle/kill switch assembly. The red button is the kill switch. When it's pushed down, the engine stops. The black lever is the throttle. When you push it, it makes the engine rev up and the track turn, making the machine move.
Other Perspective

This is the hood and windshield. The clear thing is the windshield, it's purpose is to deflect air from around your hands and body while you ride. The red thing is the hood, it covers up all the components under it which make the machine work.

This is the seat and gas tank. The seat is the black part, and it's where the rider sits. The white part is the gas tank, it is normally black.

This is the taillight, it consists of 2 bulbs that are on all the time, and a center bulb that turns on when the brake is applied. Under it with the word Polaris on it is the snow flap. It keeps debris from being shot out at people following you.
