This is a roundslide carburator. This is the most common carb found on older machines. I do not currently have a photo of a flatslide carb.

This is the brake and chaincase. The brake is the top part, with a hose leading to and away from it. Not all sleds have a liquid cooled brake. The chaincase is right under it. Under that cover is where the gears and chain is.

This foam is referred to as the "chimney" it keeps large ice and snow from entering the airbox.

This is a picture of a 488cc Fan Cooled engine. Fan cooled engines all have a cowling around the cylinders.

This is the fuel pump. It's the aluminum thing under the "caution" sticker. It's mounted on the airbox.

This is a picture of a 600cc Liquid cooled engine. It has no cowling around the engine because the coolant runs through the cylinder walls.

This is a picture of the oil and coolant tanks on a snowmobile. The smaller one is the overflow for excess coolant in the system, and the larger one is the holding tank for 2-stroke injection oil.

This is the primary or drive clutch. It is the one that closes on the belt causing it to tighten and rise in the clutch, making the machine move forward.

This is the secondary or driven clutch. As the belt climbs in the primary, this one will open up and the gear ratios change causing the machine to speed up with less RPM's.

This is an older-style Variable Exhaust Valve. As the engine RPM climbs, the pressure in the cylinder increases, causing this valve to change the exhaust port in the engine, resulting in more horsepower.
