Disapointing line up.
Looks like I'm keeping my 07 Dragon a couple more years.
It's like ACG posted above, I don't want to pay 10K plus be a retail tester.
I need to save the money for the house I'm trying to buy any way.

Go to a snow show and try talking to a rep. Not that they always know stuff.

oh i will be. there usually the only one you can get a straight answer from... asking a retailer, they'll just scratch there head and say "uhhh i dont know". even reps have their own agenda, i just want an honest opinion from someone at polaris as to what the hell are they doing to fix this problem.
i also seen that snowmobile fanatics is on the polaris page.

600 CFI-4 engine is no longer used??
The FST's still get the 750, not the new 850 Weber, apparently.

then ill just say... oh my God polaris cant be that ignorant about the problem. read the forums all over the internet, engines are blowing up after 1000 miles simply because its to much for a small engine to handle. and if you honestly do not see this problem, then your obviously not trying to reach out to the consumers.

It is pretty cool that the rush lineup is totally different then all the other sleds on the market. I as well will wait a year or two so that I am not paying for something that they dont know the flaws of yet. I still am still on the look out for one that is a 07 or 08 for next winter.

you ppl that think the rush is way to expensive need to relize that its only a thousand more then the base 600. Its only one hundred dollars more than skidoos top 600. Less than yamaha's nytros and only about 600 more than an f6 sno pro. For what you get with this snowmobile i would say thats a good price when comparing.
1st of all the real weight of the xp is 439.
2nd it is how the engine makes the hp through out the rpm range.
3rd the Dragon 800sp has the Ripsaw track 1.25.
4th ,you have no idea of what you are talking about.
5th get the F-CK out and stop bashing.
6th your Mach z 1000 is a chit box.

Yeah the CFI-4 is no more. That is where they had the problems.
For those who wanted to buy a 600 Dragon and disappointed its gone. Consider that as Polaris doing a favor as if you rode the Rush and the 600 Dragon, you wouldn't want the IQ Chassis...not bashing it since I have a 700 Dragon, but the Pro-Ride is a big step up.
Considering what the others are charging for the 600's, I would think the Rush is in the ball park after doing some searching I noticed that. So I have to retract my earlier post of saying it is somewhat high.
Personally I want something a little bigger than a 600, but for trail riding here in the East, it should have a good market.
I think we will read next winter a few good posts on those who do buy the Rush.

Any manufacturer charging 8-10k for a 600 class sled is ridiculous. I reiterate my previous statement, for that kind of money I will build myself a 250+hp rider forward sled the will kick the **** out of anything any manufacturer has to offer. I will never buy a new sled for one reason price, why pay that kind of money for something that the manufacturers are pushing on me that I dont want when I can build the sled I want for the same price?

im not disagreeing that the price is high but im saying that its not high for today's standards. I would much rather buy an older shift model and do the upgrading that i would like to do and like you said would still be cheeper. Thats why most ppl now days dont snowcheck because they know they can get the same sled about one or thousand cheeper in febuary.

Some of the new graphics look nice,I do like the this years white dragon better though. On to the more important stuff, no 600 Dragon? and the biggest disappointment for me is them dropping the 600 shift, i felt it was the best value on snow, and it didn't have there buggy CFI. I sure hope they fixed there 800 CFI.

i HIGHLY doubt they did anything to the 800 CFI. if they had it woulda been all over forums and their website. they need some serious overhauling. youll see the other forum on here about the 700 dragon that blew up, worst than anything anyone has ever seen im pretty sure. the motors in the larger bore just arent reliable and anyone who actually pays attention to the snowmobiles knows this.

I think many on this forum, and any forum for the matter forget that snowmobile manufacturers are in the business to make money. Where does that money come from? Not from budget rides but from big iron mountain sleds, and high end option sleds. I guarantee that the profit margin is significantly higher on an Assault than it was on a 600 shift, and as such when a company comes upon difficult economic times and needs to cut back, low margin products are the first to go. While most of us are not happy to see that, I think we'll see even more of it in the future as the market dries up for bargain basement new sleds given the economy. And this economy will effect every brand, we may see slightly different responses, but I think days of wide ranging models is over, at least for the forseeable future. I mean we've seen it just in this thread, people saying they are going to take their $6k and buy a year old model and mod it instead of buying a slower shift. So for those that don't think Polaris reads these forums, I would argue that the forums are in some ways responsible for the death of the cheap new sleds.
I like the lineup and I'm excited for the direction the Rush takes polaris. My personal opinion is that an emphasis on suspensions that can be applicable across the entire model line is a much better use of valuable resources than developing a monster motor that few will buy and is only suitable for two models, especially when they have a solid, reliable 600 (which a majority of new sleds of any brand are sold with anyhow). So while the lineup doesn't appeal to everyone, I think its a good direction.

They might have, but I doubt it as well. All the motor needs is a better piston, two rings forsure. And a better map. With a PC3 you can fix the map, and the motors run a LOT better, a lot longer, but it still doesn't fix the problem created by the single ring piston.
As for the 700. There are problem 700's out there, this one being the worst I have ever seen, that almost ANYONE has ever seen. But the 700 motor is for most part bullet proof. I would not be scared of the 700 CFI.

The 600 rmk 144 is the cheapest 600 they sell? Whats up with that? You would think it would be the most expensive 600.

Yes between no time to ride because of my new job and crappy snow conditions I only got roughly 14 miles on this season.
Sorry to say but you wont find me on a new sled bought or built anytime soon, until this economy turns around, I am saving not spending.
Sorry but you wont find me on a Rush ever, unless someone finds a way to stuff a 250hp triple into one.

I can't believe they still have some edges around! I also agree that they may get a few more rush customers if they lower the price. The graphics and color of the Assault look a lot better this year, IMO.

If I lived out West, the Assault would be my sled of choice for sure...but the track may not be long enough for deep powder.

So while the lineup doesn't appeal to everyone, I think its a good direction.
I have not forgotten that the manufacturer is in it to make money but I have also not forgotten that the consumer is looking to save money.
I agree with you that they make more money on a higher end sled than they would make on the shift. I can also tell you that most consumer's are going through the same hard economic times and that is all the more reason to look for a value such as the shift and when Polaris does not offer it any longer that is all the more reason to go check out other brands for a value.

Quote originally posted by mmiller491 Quote originally posted by Hutch_XLT Some of the new graphics look nice,I do like the this years white dragon better though. I wouldn't doubt that Polaris would fix this problem as the warranty bills and unhappy customers would greatly affect them. And if they don't it will be another 2 year and done motor. Believe me Polaris is aware of the 800 CFI problems, with all the blown up 800 CFI's at the Polaris dealer's for warranty work. I also think this motor needs updated better rings, get the CFI figured out with a new map and it would be a great sled. Lets see how Cat's new 160 hp 800 performs this year.

Umm...for 2010 600CFI4 is only available on the IQ touring 600 and the rest of the 600's are CFI2's. also I think the price on the Rush is decent considering I paid $12,949 on my 600RR before freight and taxes. and that new TX decal kit for the 550 shift is really kool.
