Probably 1300 this season...

although 19 plugs seems quite excessive.

Well lets see here. I already had my sled but I've bought a project chassis too.

Reg:$180

Ins:$300

Oil:$160 or so

Fuel:$A lot.

Parts: New belly pan:$285, Front bumpers X2:$100, rear bumper:$65, Y peace:$45,
Pipe:$200, O ring:$15, Trailing arm:$150, Rad arms:$60, Tie rod:$40, Shock shaft:$35 + rebuild $15, Kill switch:$30, Hand heater:$25, Clutch spring and rebuild:$80.

Aftermarket parts: 7 tooth drivers:$105, Track:$100, Tunnel and rail extension:$200, Bar riser:$120, Air horn intake:$40, Powder screen vents:$35.

That's a total of $2745, and I low balled most of the prices too. If you include the sled that I bought last year, add $4800.

I got thinking about this at work today and I forgot a few things, Sly dog skis:$250, Heat exchanger:$150, and four belts at $80 each.

What's your problem? RUFWM?

lets see hear ive had a pretty bad year i bought my sled for $3000 couple days after i bought it the mechanic called me and told me the motors bad so theres $500 for a new mag side piston and rings for them both, $300 miles later i blew it up so new track $400, new pistons rings and cylinders for both cylinders and a set of VForce 3 carb boots $1500 all together, then roast it again on the canl at this point im so ungodly amounts of angry that im just screaming at the top of my lungs well another $300 and the mechanic has it running twice the gas and 3 times the oil it should be running so it wont blow up again. so al in all im up to $6000 on my sled alone. then on the vermont border to border ride i end up totaling my dads sled(2006 GSX 600SDI sport) because there was a cement pillar under the snow that i didnt see that was added up to $6800 thank god for insurance or he would have killed me so in the end with out insurance i would have spent $12800 kill me i should find a new hobby like stamp collecting lol

It's been an expensive season for me. My trip to gaylord was my christmas present so that helped out a lot.

rail ext-$170
tunnel ext-100
new 144x15x1.25 ripsaw-$300(cheap)
handlebars-$35
2 piece throttle block-$45
hand warmers-$45
odi grips-$20-$30
oil-$90
gas-who knows
sparkplugs for all sleds-$115
sparkplug caps-$35
new rails-$175
slides-$75
6" bar riser-$40
throttle ext-$25
billet pull handle-$40
sure i'm missing something. all that and my motor blows up. I had about $400 into it last year for maintenance costs. I bought the sled for $3500. I hate thinking about the amount of money i stick into the damn thing. Almost everything i make working seems like i stick it into my sled. I got $250 in my moms xcr for the psi pipes and idler wheel bearings. Not to mention the $1000 it cost me for parts to rebuild my stratus motor and the $2500 it cost me for my avenger. It makes you want to sell all your sh!t and buy a bicycle. I could have bought myself a decent cummins like i wanted but you got to pay to play and snowmobiling is the greatest hobby ever.

Humm...decided to put a new top-end on my '99 SRX, parts were about $400-$500. Got Wiseco pistons, new yammy small-end bearings, fresh belt, etc.

Well, I also found the case halve leaking a bit on the #1 cylinder, so pulled the motor and got some yamabond, new crank seals and viola, no more leak, and now I also know that I've got a welded crank!

So engine work

$450-$500 give or take
$100 for waterproof snow pants, so nice to have a dry ass!
$20 for some new goggles
$fuel...who cares
$F-ing trailer wire repairs seems like six times!!!! F-ing prices less, but done by me so "free" so to speak
$50 for a new trailer spare
$10 to have the tire mounted on a different wheel
$20 for a box of BR8ES plugs
$25 for Michigan trail stickers
$17 for Illinois registration
$900 for my share of a 2002 SXV I bought with 2 buddies, still thinking that was not a smart move
$50 for a new windshield for my SRX

Whoa...that comes to $1,692...okay...who thought this was a good idea to figure out!!!!!

Ouch!!!!

This is for this season only, not including what i bought over the summer

what I still have to pay on the sled $4,500
~$300 in gas to and from michigan
a 55 gallon of 110 that I bought in november $450 after discount
a gallon of amsoil $45

and thats with less than 200 miles on so far this season.

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

Snowmobiling is just like any other hobby, it is going to cost some money.

So far this season I've gotten by pretty cheap
Insurance was about $200.00
A spare pair of gloves $80.00
New set of plugs & labor $100.00
Gas (assuming 16MPG) about $90.00

This spring the snowmobile will need some preventative maintenance work though. It is due for its first oil change, should probably replace the hyfax, and take a look at the wear rods on the skis. Basically, I want to replace whatever needs to be so I don't have to do anything for another 500-600 miles. I'm going to close off the big hole in the top of the tunnel to cut down on some ice too, I'll do that myself.
