i was riding today with plenty of fresh snow and all of a sudden my oil and temp light came on at the same time. I stopped and checked the oil and coolant and let the sled cool down. It didnt go away so I rode it home because it didnt seem to be running hot. I topped of the oil and both lights are still on. Does anybody Know What this could be.
Thanks,
Justin

oil light I wouldn't worry about, there famous for that. mine comes on about 3/4 quart low. temp light I'd just check you lines and exchanger for leaks, and make sure you're getting enough snow up on the coolers.

Thats what is wierd i topped off my oil and i still have full coolant and both of the lights are still on. I dont think it is over heating but i dont want to take the chance.

the wires might have a bad connection and could be reading it wrong. or possibly a leak in the exchanger like stated above

believe there was a recall on the oil level sensor, guess there pretty famous for going bad. I'm told the new ones are longer..?? as for the temp. might be a bad sensor or short but check to make sure coolant is flowing.

That would be good for the oil sensor. do you have any ideas on how i would check if the coolant is flowing. It is full on fluid so im not loosing any and i rode it home atleast 5 miles after the lights came on and it was still full of fluids. Im going to ride it today now that it has been sitting over night and hope it went away.

It simply may be you're not getting enough snow up on the coolers. Is your snowflap long enough? thermostat working? get it warmed up and track of the ground and watch the coolant res to make sure the T-stat is opening and closing correctly. Or it could of been a fluke.

I had plenty of snow because i was breaking trail in a foot of powder. When i do this should i have the cap off and look for the coolant levels to flucuate?

I don't think you need the cap off.. if when the engine is cold the coolant should be at or near the cold fill line. let it get warmed up and watch it. when the t-stat opens the level should drop in the res. and "cycle" throught the system. and as the engine cools it should fill back up. if it doesn't you might have a blockage somewhere.

Well i guess i was lucky because i took the sled out last night and rode for an hour+ with no problems. I am thinking that some sensor must have been frozen or something because the day it happened i was skimming a lot of water and my sled was covered in ice.
Thanks for all the help!
