I don't even know how to express how much fun Ive had in the last few days. For those who never saw my earlier threads, I came across a ZRT 600 for nothing ( well nearly nothing, I ended up ding a full rebuild with new pistons before it ran right, but thats in another topic)

Anyways. I also own a 1974 John deere 400 with a fan cooled 340 motor and a bogey wheel suspension. Having moved from Sacramento Ca, to rural Minnesota, I thought this was the cats meow. I had never laid my eyes on a sled prior to the John Deere let alone rode one, so I spent the next 3 years mindlessly putting around, minding any powder snow deeper than 6-8 inches, because of the low travel it was very prone to getting stuck and being carefull of rough terrain. I was happy.
Then I met the Arctic Cat........ we got 6 inches of fresh stuff ontop of the old pack, and Ive been out most of the last 4 days.Ive lanched off of drifts that formed on the upper shoulders in the ditches that were more than 7 ft high, spun around and shot straight back up a nearly verticle face caught several ft of air to whip around and repeat. Ive shot across a snowy lake at 90 mph. jumped plow ridges, carved through 2 ft of powdery drifts with out losing a bit of speed. Im in love.

Those of you who grew up watching this sport evolve, and those younger folks that were simply born into it are going to think Im crazy. maybe I am. I just had no Idea what this sport could be like.

I also learned that prolonged low speed ( less than 25mph) trail riding tends to bore the day lights out of me. Sure, you can see the sights..... but I can do that on my snow shoes too.

The only down side Ive found is that when Im hitting it hard, I can go through 6 gallons of gas in 25 miles. anyways. Keep them sleds flyin.

Very easily one of the most fun, expensive, enjoyable, relaxing things to do. And an awesome way to stay in shape rather than going to a boring gym. Now if only the skiers could agree that this is a great way to pass the time!

Love to read these kinds of stories!

Glad to hear it. Sounds like a fanatic to me. Welcome to heaven on earth my frind.

Ive been riding for 24 years and I never get tired of blasting ditches and snowbanks and just tearing up the yard in general. Greatest sport ever. Hell, greatest ANYTHING ever!!

hell i have rode snowmobiles since i was in my moms stomach, i was a spring baby so yeah. in fact my mom induced labor by riding a quad at 9 months pregnant for me, apparently i was very stubborn. ive rode every year of my life for the past 18 years of my life, and not once have ai found something outside of the bedroom this fun. its a very addicting sport but you have have have to be careful, ive had a friend die on one and SEEN a friend get hit by a county plow truck up in paradise in the UP. just keep your eyes open and dont put yourself in danger. my dad two weeks ago almost got hit by a car crossing the road. the trail crossed on the corner on a road. he looked right, looked left, and then went, sure enough from his right came a car, luckily the car stopped about 2 inches away from his sled. just be safe man and youll find a sport youll adore til the age of 60.

Everytime I go out, I have as much fun as I did on that initial ride....

although it may be more fun, now that my suspension is dialed in a little better!

The wife only bought me the sled, so that she can get one this year :( Guess I have to get her one.

good to hear dude, it's awesome to see that the sport is growing. try out a newer sled and you will be just as impressed as going from the john deere to the zrt.

Owning a race sled is like having a totally hot girlfriend..... All of your friends want to see it, feel it and check it out..... They all want to know what it is like to ride it, but if they only knew how much time and money it takes to keep one up, they would call you a fool!

Congrats on living life a little larger.
I'm the same way, but im not jsut restricted to being obssesed about drivng them, i love working on them and improving them, though i hate not having my good sled going. I havn't been riding in about two months. It really sucks.
