I've towed a 4-sled trailer with a 2000 dodge minivan from Toronto to Parry Sound without problems.

If a Ford Escape can't tow one, you're probably doing something wrong.

I don't have one but I can tell you it'll tow a few sleds just fine.

What's your problem? RUFWM?

Shouldn't be a problem, check the towing capacity. and make sure you have the right size ball and hitch, and you should be all set. Remember...people haul trailers with their cars, and they do just fine. So i dont think a small SUV will have any issues with it. Good luck!

p.s= Why else would they offer a "Towing" package on the escape straight from the factory? lol think about it :)

Why is Abbreviation such a LONG word?

my explorer sport trac with the 4.0SOHC, 4x4, with 4.10 gears did not like my 2 place with even one sled on it. It did the job, but labored intensely, got crappy crappy mileage too, but its nothing like the Silverado i have now

DOH , I wasn't questioning whether it could be done, just seeing if any members have experience with these vehicles towing. The Escape has a reputation for developing transmission problems which is more what I was fishing for..

Be carefull with "towing capacity". To my experince it's more than you can tow comfortably. I have an 02' Toyota Rav4 4WD, 2.0L i-vvti rated at 155hp. Its rated for 1500lbs. I find with my F5 on a single trailor, not weighing more than 800lbs. Its about all you can tow at highway speeds( 110 km/h) when going up hills. You have to drop into 4th gear with the tach showing 4000rpms. To try and haul 1500lbs on hills must be something.

you will be fine my g/f has a 08 escape with the v6 and awd. it will tow 3500lbs all day long and not care to much, gas milage goes down and you have to be carefull stopping as the escape is a light suv but if you had trailer brakes you should be fine.

cheers

I've towed a 2 place trailer with 2 sleds on it with my 01 explorer sport for a couple years now. It works a little harder but it gets the job done nicely.

I hope I die like my grandpa did - quietly in his sleep... not like the rest of the people in the car.

I think you'll be fine. I would say the transmission issues you've heard about have been due to people trying to tow too much while allowing the vehicle to shift into overdrive. Make sure you override overdrive and you should be fine.
