It is a very sad time of year for most of us. Thinking back to the fun memories I would jsut like to know how you guys store your sleds . Ive heard to put oil in gas and run it through or drain tank completely. I would like to do it properly so i wont trash my sled.
Thanks

I was actually curious about something: Could you, in theory, open the oil pump up manually and "fog" the engine with the fluids already in the sled? I feel like that would be the easiest way to go...

when i had my supersport I would start it then turn my gas off and let it sit til it quit. I fill the tank and put some isoheet in the tank to keep the water out. put a cover on it and some type of wire brush in the bottom of the silencer so mice cant get through. put the track in the air and that was it.

with my new sled I still fill the tank and put isoheet in but I just start it twice a month to keep everything moving. It has worked so far. one incentive of starting it during the summer is you get that fantastic smell of a two stroke throughout the year : )

Add sta-bil to the fuel according to how much fuel you have left. Run it until you can smell it burning, its in the carbs or injectors. Shut it down, cover it up and stick a 2x4 under the back bumper, (not necessary) and then do like the rest of us and watch the calender and wait for snow. I also suggest you store it out of sight, less you become tempted to sit on it and make goofy noises, causing others to think your completely nuts!

We put em in our trailer and park the trailer behind the shop. A few times in the summer we will fire them up. All we do is try to keep the fuel low, add sta-bil, and shut the fuel off. We havent had any mice in our trailer, just thieves. Now we put a lock on the back door even though its up against a chain link fence.

I've got an 07 Phazer. I block the back bumper up so the track is off the ground, take off the drive belt, put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank, take out the battery and charge it, put duct tape over the exhaust opening, pump grease into whatever needs it, put some moth balls on the foot boards, and put the cover on.

yeah stabil in the tank with just a little fuel left, cover it up good, back end off the ground to take weight off rear suspension. Oh yeah, I've got an XLT so fog the snot out of the motor to keep crank healthy. And then it's the lovely job of pulling carbs and ACCS off in the fall to clean carbs, cause those pilot jets on Mikunis are small and it don't take much to gum em up even if you use stabil.

What's wrong with goofy noises and sitting on your sled in 100 degree weather? Cool thoughts help you get over the fact you just burned your leg on that chrome tunnel roll in the sun!

Another thing that works if you can't find mothballs, try dryer sheets, these also keep mice out.

I hold the "S" button, and push the high and low beam on the old etec. and she summerises herself. Runs oil all through the engine then shuts off. STORED!

I drain all the gas out and clean under the hood so that it is clean for next year. While I wait I buy all the necessary parts before next season. The season is not over I will ride next weekend somewhere.....

I put a a 2x4 under the skii's to keep em off the ground, raise the the back up to get the track off the ground, I put a full tank of gas in it with Stabil (put more than recommended to make up for ethanol content)Let it run to work the Stabil through the fuel system. Then pull the plugs and put a teaspoon of oil in ea cyl to keep em lubed, replace plugs. Then I remove the belt and plug off the exhaust. I also throughly clean everything, grease all the fittings, armor-all the seat, wax the hood and put the cover on her, all while shedding a tear :( I also pour bleach on the concrete floor around the sled. It's an old wives tale, I guess mice and rodents hate the smell of bleach, and it soaks into the concrete and keeps them away. I store my motorcycle and sleds the same way and I have never ever had a problem, been doing it this way for years and years.

I just leave the belt on the seat, I dunno, I read somewhere that its recommended to remove the belt, I don't know why, but I always clean my sheaves and clucthes at the start of each riding season, so it's already off, plus I always spin the track to check for lug and stud damage and Hyfax wear.

I ran the engine for about 10 minutes, put some sea-foam in the tank(less than 1/4 tank of gas left)and shook the hell out of it to mix it all together and restarted the engine. let it run through the carbs for 5 minutes. shut fuel off and put a tarp over it. It will go in my garage eventually so i can do some work but my yard is fine for now. what is fogging and how would one go about it? this individual is interested.
