I want to strip the paint off of my tunnel to polish it. I've tried a couple of different strippers and nothing touches the paint. I don't want to sand it and make scratches. Anybody know what kind of stripper works good for this??

Regular paint thinner or even "brake fluid" beleive it or not should do fine if you are wanting to polish the tunnel! it will take a it of time but it is definetly worth it!!

Thanks,

Aircraft stripper from walmart or an auto parts store works good! I used the aerosol stuff, spray it on, let it set for a little while and for the most part wipe it off. The also have stuff in like a gallon can that I guess works better, you brush it on I think. WEAR GLOVES!!

Thanks for the info..I'll try both and see what works the best. For some reason this paint is being very stubborn. I even tried to sand a spot under the footrest (out of sight) and it took a lot to get through.

Because it's powder coated, not paint.

I've tried strippers that took the powder-coat off of some other parts I have and it worked great, must be a different (more durable) powder or just the age of it.

This is what I would like it to look like:

well i am currently doing the exact same thing as you.
what i have found works best,(walmart aircraft stripper) or jhon deer gasket remover.
then once you spray it on let it sit for a long time i let mine sit over night. take a pressure washer to it and it just peels off.
hope this helps... im currently doing it to my ultra right now accept the tunnel and bulkhead are separated so its alot easier

I would just hose it down with the stripper and let it sit for a while, I think it says like 1/2 hour or better, you will see the stuff start to bubble, then either use a rubber/plastic scraper, or pressure washer.

aircraft stripper from wal mart, it comes in a blue aeresol can. I used it on my xlt and it worked great. Spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes until it bubbles up then scrape it off with a plastic putty knife.

I used the aircraft stripper too...i didnt used the aerosol though i used the big jug and brushed it on with a paint brush. Let it sit for a little while and the paint started to look like cottage cheese. Pressure washed it off and boom, shiny and new.
