I am looking at a truck that has sat beside a barn for the last 3months and went in to ask if the guy would sell it.he told me it needed work like a brake line on the drivers side, the box is getting a bit rough, something in the gas tank leaks.the cab is solid and the motor runs strong, has rebuilt tranny and alternator etc.he told me he would take 1300 cause he thats how much he has into it.so my question is it worth it?

Whats the rust like on the body?

If you want it for a working truck and don't intend on doing long hauls with it, go ahead, still a bit much though for a junker.

If you're buying for restoration, well, its a start.

Browse around you can get a 1990+ Silverado for the same price, in half decent shape as well.

EDIT* at 17, don't even waste the money. You're also in Ontario, soon as it starts rusting out you'll get nailed by the department of transportation and have it impounded.

Thats a decent looking truck. Around here id probably give 5-700 for it, so id say thats a ok price for you. Maybe on the high side. If its 4x4 then that adds to the value also. Maybe see if hed take 1000 cash or around there and itd be a decent deal. Maybe if it needs some work try to use that to bring him down some. Thats just my .02. Good luck with it.

LoL yes it is gonna be my badass high school truck.thing is guys he bought it in january for 1000 and he said he bought mufflers/exhaust for it.so he just wants his money back he was origanally gonna put it in the bogs.yes it is 4x4 and he said that its a tank.lol.you guys think i should offer him less still?

also the thing is there are not that many trucks like this left up here in ontario in this good of condition cause of the salt etc.and i really like this body style so i wouldnt mind paying a little over a 1000 but if he would of said 1500 i would have told him no

ill have to get some. i dont have any right now. ill probly go mud running this weekend and ill get some good ones in the mud. first i have to get it buried and beat my record of getting buried the deepest in our group. i beat it last year when i got buried halfway between the bottom the the door and the bottom of the window. had to rip out the carpet because of that. lol. im goin for all the way to the window this year. should be easy with all the snow and rain we got. the mud holes last weekend were damn deep and it was still half frozen. cant wait. my bronco is for sale by the way. too far of a drive for you tho but still for sale none the less

you cant beat the look of those old fords. i personally would buy that in a second if i had the money (and if i was in Ontario and was old enough to drive)
for high school, that is the best. find some preppy with a brand new Toyota corolla and run it over. haha

I'm more or less confused at why you guys don't think it's even worth $1,000. I paid $2500 for my '79 and even though it has it's issues it was definitely a good deal. According to the bank it is worth the same today as it was in '79, around that $5,500 mark.

Off of Nadaguides.com for the one your looking at.

Original MSRP: $4,561
______________Low___Average__High
Base Price___$2,950_$7,950_$11,450
Options
4 Wheel Drive__$225___$400____$550
400 V8 Engine__$175___$300____$400
TOTAL PRICE___$3,350_$8,650_$12,400

^ The numbers don't lie.

You didn't mention what motor was in it, so I just picked the 400.

Definitely a good buy in my opinion. Even though the cabs aren't sealed up very good, and the defrosters aren't worth a damn(or AC if it has it)...they are definetely fun as a daily driver.

Yes, Ford did make a 360!

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

Well, the engine isn't original . They stopped the 360 in '76 I believe.

How can your insurance be that much? I'm 21 and full coverage on my '79 is like $900/year, with a not so perfect record.

For a '77 150 even with a 360, worth it...as long the rust isn't too bad. I know people around here that are getting a whole lot more for them. Like $2000 and up. In the summer, there's alot of the 70's trucks out and about. The 360 is actually a pretty tough little engine. Maybe swap in a 460 later???? That would be pretty awesome!!! I put a 460 in my '81 F-100 and it's a blast!!
