Just curious if anyone has shipped a sled engine and who you used. I have a person that wants me to ship them an engine and I know UPS takes up to 150lbs but I think it would cost quite a bit. Also, approx how much would a bare triple weigh? No clutch, carbs, recoil, etc.

We had our triple engine shipped to us from MI to SD last year and they put it in a crate and bolted it in. It was minus the clutch, carbs, and pipes to. I dont remember the cost on it for sure though, wasnt too bad.

What would be the best way to ship it, build a small crate for it? I was also thinking maybe covering it in really thick styrofoam in a box and then banding it. Thanks for your input guys...

i used a strong box,and lined it with another box and packed it with whatever i could to keep it from moving, used mostly cut up pieces of large cardboard and block styrofoam. It got to its destination unharmed.

I shipped a 600 twin last year using a heavy duty plastic tote from wal mart. I bolted the engine to a piece of plywood, then bolted the plywood to the tote. Then packed bubble wrap and newspaper around the engine.
