Just as the title states. Those of you that remember reading my post (especially Mr. Holmquist) may remember me being nuts with this sled that I bought at the beginning of the season. The sled left me stranded on the 1st run I had and it never ran after that. I was thinking it was an EFI issue but ended up being a piston. By the time I got it all fixed and cleaned up the snow was gone and never snowed again. I've ran it a very short time in the yard and started it every so often and let it idle but that's it. What, if anything should I do for summer storage? I already dumped in some Stabil, shook it around a bit and ran it at idle, sprayed LPS (a moisture displacer) to keep everything from considating. What else should I do? Should I just dump some 2 cycle oil through the plug holes? Is there something special I should use or do?
Thanks guys

I own a 95 EFI 500 and my spring routine is:
1. Stabl in gas- keep at minimum 1/4 tank in there- run it for 5-10 minutes to make fuel w/stabl makes it to the fuel rail.
2. Remove belt
3. Remove battery and put on work bench- charge at least every 30 days
4. 1/2 oz injector oil in each plug hole- pull it over slowly to move it around
5. Grease all front & rear fittings
6. raise track off trailer floor
7. sit on it at least once a week and think snow- Have fun

Ive also found if you put a light coat of vaseline or grease on the shock shafts to prevent them from getting rust and poss. pitting.

I usually use Sea Foam as a fuel stabilizer, but mine is carbed and not efi.

Correction: 2. Shut off fuel valve, and run til it starts to die. This way you have very little fuel in your fuel injection/carburetors. I still use Sta-bil, but you can still get some gum build up, this solves the problem.

I don't think you want to run the EFI fuel pumps dry, thats what I've heard....

Might as well they'll evaporate into a film of gunk anyways.

Not the greatest approach, you might be putting in a pump. Have you see the location of the pump, you might as well pull the engine out of the machine. Quote originally posted by mrholmquist

I have a 1995 RXL where the previous owner put in a on/off switch for the fuel pump. I can start mine up and switch off the pump to run it dry. That is the way to go....a little extra work though.
