To start things off....the snow is AWESOME. Had quite a large group today, club ride and everyone decided they needed to come out and ride. 15+ riders. The best analogy I can come up with is "Take 15 16 year old girls to the mall of America and keep track of them." That will explain the quality of ride I had today. Tail guiding was a nightmare. Dragon was running awesome getting some time into play when not worrying about everyone else and having a blast. Me and the other tail gunner finally get things figured out on how to keep track of the pack of wild dogs and things are finally going somewhat smoothly. Going across a meadow just barely above engagement RPM watching everyone and it feels like someone hit my kill switch. Kind of took me by surprise, I've had trees decide they didn't want my sled on anymore and hit my kill switch but they never reach that far out into a wide open meadow. So I'm thinking that is kind of strange, check key and kill switch, all are good. Go to pull the rope, get about 6 inches out. Think "WTH chad, you wimp, pull that thing over". Go pull again, same result. Seized up tight. Start tearing off the side panels to turn the clutch, by that time it was free again. Pull the plugs, no smashed plugs or chunks of metal on them, look down the holes, no holes in the pistons are anything out of the ordinary that I could see (at least with the flashlight that was damn near dead). Put some different plugs back in start it up. Running like crap and have a new sound coming from the motor. Check compression with finger tips and both cylinders feel pretty close, one may have a bit less compression but not to bad. Pull the belt and get towed back to the trailer looking at all the untouched hillsides and meadows while silently whimpering like a lost puppy. You know your day has gone to hell when you manage to roll your sled while getting towed.....the tower decided he needed to cool his sled off so got a little bit close to the edge, next thing I know I am summersaulting down the trail watching the dragon being towed on it's side. Get to the trailer and install the belt to load up. I have one sick dragon... Looks like I'll have to ride a cat tomorrow...but at least I have a backup. Oh yeah...1300 miles and about 75 hours on the engine.

That sucks, hopefully its nothing too bad. Always good to have a backup sled but it sucks knowing you have to ride it due to engine failure on your regular sled. Went through that last year.

Not gonna touch it due to warranty. No holes in piston and spark plugs were fine as far as I could tell. I got screwed on factory warranties by going into the dealer and showing them what was wrong...so leave it as is and take it in.
If it was out of warranty that head would have been off so fast....

Sucks to hear ACG. Nice you have a warranty to cover it. Funny thing is you "were" ACG.. Now your getting pulled by an "ACG"
You were doing that today while I went out and put 15 miles on my bicycle in shorts and then fell asleep in the back yard with shorts and no shirt while boiling sap. I even got a tan.

Actually, I was pretty content. I will ride the bicycle another 15-20 miles tomorrow and then take the girlfriend to a maple festival a few towns away on the motorcycle.
Scratch that.. it was 66 degrees today, it is 51 right now.. but I now see they are calling for snow/rain tomorrow and 37.

Exactly. But better now than next December when the warranty is up. I was really hoping something would hurry up and go wrong...

Musta made you nervous when you have all these dragons around you having problems and yours is still running strong eh? Well good thing it happened now and not half way through next season or something, and good thing the season is almost over! well from the looks of the snow you have, it might still be another month.

Only thing I have heard is it doesn't sound like the voltage regulator. They said those usually sieze up and won't start again. So no idea on what is going inside of tha tmotor.

All things considdered,
the warranty is still good, it went out at the end of the season rather than the beginning, and you have access to the Cat M sled to ride, it could have been much worse.
After the seeing Vector deal, you did good in not tearing it down with the warranty and all.
So I think this will end well for you.
An option would be to have the Polaris dealer take the warranty parts from Polaris on trade for a big bore.
No more piston probs and more power too
They were offering the 4 year bumper to bumper when I snowchecked my 07 Dragon, so I got that instead of the
cheap monthly/for ever payments.
A good warranty deal right at the end to start me off fresh would be OK with me.
I'm actually thinking about an 800cc big bore Ultra motor in my chassis.

So how does it feel to be part of the blown up 800 club? I mine has done it so many times I can tell you exactly how your pistons will look. Scored on the exhaust side only. One side will be worse, it varies from mag side to pto side. Good luck with getting parts. I hear in the US they are back ordered way back. I'm picking mine up today. :) Going on motor 4. Down three times in 1001 miles. I'm happy to hear they have a fix coming, and your warranty is going to be good till March 31 2010, once you get the new parts. Like the fix. On second thought here is the letter from polaris, to all their dealers about this problem.
08 800 Dragon 155
-Fox floats up front
-Tri city bumper
-8" MMP riser
-Snow eliminators
-Tons of SLP vents
-Custom honey comb paint job
