Hey im looking at a 2007 M1000 162". Its got 990 miles on her. Its one of my buddies dads sled. Does anyone know anything about this sled. I original have an 03 F7. How much of a change is it. I also saw that its like 70 lbs more then my F7 is the extra weight worth the power. Opinions please. It also has an SLP exhaust system with a boondocker fuel controller. The guy wanted $5,300. 5300.00 seems cheap for that sled. They are 2 different sleds and you will notice a huge difference in handling. If you ride trails more than powder and boondocking that sled is gonna be impractical and not worth having IMO.Its gonna push on the trails and you wont be able to hotdog on the trail and if the snow gets skimpy you can chance it overheating or burning up the hyfax, and if it has no swaybar that makes trail riding even more difficult. The sled is gonna have tons of power, but its main purpose is in the mountains and use the trail to get to the powder.

Heres a thought, buy it put the 1000 in your f7 and put the 700 in the m/cat and sell it......just a thought

you live in coldwater MI....there is no need for a 162" track anywhere around here. I would pass.

I off trail ride in maine, some of the guys I ride with have 800 cats with the 156 and they go everywhere. one had a skidoo 1000 162 but he got rid of it for a smaller cat , said the thing was way to hard to control ion tight areas. unless you ride in wide open areas I would pass.

sleds: had a 96 mxz 440 liquid, 99 mxz 600 that I put a 700 in then an 800 still have.Had an 04 sdi mxz 600 sold it, an 03 mxz 600 still have. And the latest is an 09 fx nitro xtx

A 162 is a long sled but great for pulling some lines up a steep slope or mountain side. I considered one but really enjoy the '153 or '151 inch sleds. Not too long and not too short for what I ride. $5300 is a steal for that sled around this area. I would pick it up for the price alone if you can afford it and if you don't like it, sell it for more than what you bought it for. If you ride a lot of tree's it might be a little tougher but still manageable. It's a great western sled if thats what your gonna use it for. I wouldn't listen to some of the guys on here that say its to hard for tight areas, I'm guessing they run flat land with a decent amount of snow. GO FOR IT.

I just bought it for $4,850 last night. So i guess ill just give it a shot and if I dnt like it I could get well more then what I payed for it. Thnx for the input though. It has the SLP exhaust system can and pipe on her with the boondocker control. Is their any other mods for that sled that someone has heard will make a big difference.

You straight stole that sled unless it's been wrecked. Just make sure it's clutched well for the altitude. Now get some pictures up of that sled, and let's see it.

Check the plugs that are in the sled and read them. Should be a good indication. I would call your local cat dealer and they should know also.

I think dennis kirk has a specification chart you can look at also. Dont the M series use like 4 plugs? 2 per cylinder?

Hopefully you don't plan on riding that on hardpack or trails. You will me disappointed. I think every M series sled I have rode is heavy on the front end. The 1000 is the worst. What year is it?

2007 and heavy or not i know i will love it. I dont understand why everyone thinks I gunna ride it on a trail or something. Just because I live in Michigan doesent mean that I dont travel anywhere. And with the SLP exhaust system I think its down to close to 500lbs. I mean arent the RMK's like 530-540 or something. Thats not that heavy for a 1000. And by the time I get done with her Im gunna have her down close to 470 which is preatty sick. Spark plug question that was stupid. I wasnt even thinking

^^^^ The 800 RMK 163" is only 477 pounds stock, cats have always been the heaviest in the mountains, except if you count yammis but they cant make it that far...

^^^ I have to say the phazer has appealed to me as a boondocking sled, but other than that im not a yammi fan, im not saying theyre bad, just dont fit my riding style. Im polaris to the end... unless i can afford a new summit.

I stopped at the sled show they had at Georgian College the other day, and the Yamaha's ALL looks absolutely horrendous. The only saving feature was the 4 Polaris Rush' that were at different stages of assembly at the Polaris display. Bare frame, engine components, engine components and electrical without panels, and final show floor model. The Artic Cats looked amazing too, especially the 136" models. Don't remember the name but the one that caught my eye was the 1100 tubro, a STOCK turbo.

When we started trying to prop up the hood we had Artic cat reps all run over spouting out literally all the specifications.

I would still choose polaris over a cat any day. All i do is help my friend fix his cats so theyre not very high ranking in my book.

But, anyways, nice new sled! you better have fun on the trail with that! haha, just playin, that thing will be pretty fun, ride the hell out of it!

BV- From what I've been hearing Polaris seems to be the one's having trouble with their engines in their newer sleds and many people are jumping to cat, especially mountain rider's with the new M series. I could so that Polaris isn't very high ranking in my book either but that would just be arrogant and ignorant. Each manufacturer has their own problems. I've never had serious problems with ANY of the Arctic Cat's that I've owned except one where I lost a crankshaft and arctic cat covered the bill on a 5 year old sled. To each there own though...

This year we have had to pull more cat's out than polaris's. I will say that I ride with 95% cats so that has something to do with it. Once that we pulled out was a 1300 cc cutler turbo running over 10 lbs of boost and he blew a belt wrapping cords in his secondary and ripping out wiring. Second cat was due to broken handlebars, I have never been a fan of 'adustable' bars.

Towed my Polaris out this weekend due to an engine failure. If I had to do it again I would have an M8, everything is bullet proof on them except the steering post IMO. I would throw a solid post on them with a pivot riser and would be 100% happy with it. I can jump between the dragon and M series and not really even tell a difference. There are a few things I like more about my dragon but would give up to have an M series.
