Well i finally got the chance to go out to b.c and do some backcountry riding. Got in last minute with a group heading out to whistler for 4 days and it was unreal!

If you havent been out there before the pictures and sled videos do NO justice to how steep and deep stuff really is out there! I was in awe the entire day on both sledding days, its the most fun/scarriest time you can have on a sled.

We lucked out and got 2 perfect bluebird days in the backcountry, unfortunatly the snow was low (for their norm) but it worked out because we had a perfect setup to climb stuff these rental sleds normally wouldnt make.

Anyways heres some

pics from my first time riding real backcountry there also a link to a ton more. I didn't know what to expect going out there for the first time but I definatly feel more at home in that sorta terrain then on ramps or tracks in the flatlands. All i wanna do now is figure out a way to live out there and ride the backcountry on a sled more suited to jumping stuff.

heres a link to about 60 pics from the trip!

I will totally agree with you on the pictures doing NO justice, I've noticed that from our trips too, its crazy, something super steep in real life looks like a field on camera. Its all about finding angles to show the steepness. Looks like you had a good trip! Gotta love beating the crap out of rental sleds, of course you say YES when they ask you if you want the $500 deductable insurance!

I'd like to make it out there one day but I see one major problem with that terrain...no trees...

The way I read it was we were on the hook for any dammages to the rental sleds. DId have to sign a form saying I wouldnt jump...that went out the window pretty quick haha!

Yeah we rode the pemberton ice fields, theres places at lower elevation with lots of tree riding.

I forgot to add the other pics, heres some of riding in muskoka on the 21st, everyone around here has allready packed it in but we lucked out and found a fun mx track that still had lots of snow amazingly.

Was fun to get one last good riding session, we built up a few jumps and cruised. The one stepup was pretty hairy, had to hit it wide open on my iq to make it. Not alotta pop on the lip but its a rush hauling at a jump like this.

Me gettin a little whipped out

Also had a little mishap on the water yesterday.

It is a blast, nothing like being in the backcountry surrounded by epic mountains/ glaciers. I wish I brought my helmet cam along because on our second day we climbed 2 hills that I looked at and thought now way our rentals were gonna make it up! Stuff gets soo steep in places u have to sidehill to keep climbing up it.

This hill took everyone atleast 4 tries to make it up, hard to tell from the pic but the last 1/4 of the hill was stupidly steep. 2 guys almost drove off the cliff to the right.

I barely made it and dug a huge trench that everyone kept catching and crashing haha. Wide open throttle crawling speed with skis 2ft in the air past the point of being able to turn out...insane rush! Heres a pic from the top, u can kinda see how steep it gets after that ridge, 2 buddies lining up half way up to take another crack at it

I'm gonna do everything I can to get out there again! Living in Whistler and backcountry sledding is the life for me!
