Just traded my '00 Blaster for a 2001 ZR440 Sno Pro. It seems to start right up and sounds good. Don't know the first thing about it, anyone have any comments or thoughts what to look for and be aware of. Pretty clean sled. Do I have to do anything to it to trail ride it and launch it when snow comes back? any help would be great. thanks

Sick sleds, I would love to have one of those. I have always really liked how those look. Never had a chance to ride one though.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion.

Nice looking sled! I would just do the normal go over the whole sled. Check spark plugs, check compression if you have the equip, check all the bolts in the rear suspention, check all the idler wheels make sure there all tight and not wobbly. If its liquid? Check the coolant lines. You know just the normal maintainance.

to check compression it involves taking out the plugs putting the tester in and pulling it over until the psi stops rising, and by checking the lines just make sure they are in good shape, thanks for saying i have a nice sled btw.

^^ Yeah just check for dryrot on your cooling lines make sure there no cracks or leaks. Check compression as you would on your quad just one cylinder at a time. Compression should be around 145-160.

I always have but it doesnt matter.. Each cylinder holds its own compression so it wont matter if the plugs in or not.

145-160 psi seems a little steep for a 8 year old sled doesn't it? and btw means by the way.

That is a little high, I have 3 Sno Pro's and none of them were near that with new top ends.

like i said i personally wouldn't be looking for more than the mid to high 120's anywhere in the 120's shouldn't be a problem though. It really all depends on how much it was beat-on and the mileage also plays a role.

Haha i must have been drunk or something 145-160? I just did a top end on my xcsp and compression was 129and128 haha, must have been dreaming of snow again! Im sorry Bckmstr 120's is right and 130 is ideal and make sure the cylinders are within 10% of each other or 10psi to be safe, because if there not thats another problem.

thanks for all your input guys i really appreciate it as like i said i know nothing about this sled and would rather ask a million ?'s from guys who know rather than screw something up cuz i was to stubborn/stupid to ask and what a better place than right here any more thoughts or input is always good for a rookie like myself i just want to be very thorough and keep the maintenance up like every other thing i own. I believe in a lot of maintenance to keep things running like they should and respect my toys to keep em in excellent condition the best i can rather than waiting for something to brake

Definitely a fun sled. Keep a few different sized jets handy though. Instead of changing jets per 20 degree fluctuation in temp the 440 is per 10 degree.
Going through pistons is a fairly common thing from what I had researched while I had it, every couple/few years type thing. Easy job to do, even though I had to file the rings I had gotten from Parts Unlimited through Dennis Kirk a tad to get into spec.
Don't forget to clean the power valves from time to time, they'll gum up and cause you alot of frustration.
Other then that, enjoy it. I wish I hadn't sold mine.

Just checked the compression and got 130 and 131-2. going by what you stated it looks good ideal right? I appreciate the help. Picking up a owner's manual Friday so I can start tinkering on it and give it a little TLC. Anything I should know about storing it?
