2 anit-malware programs on the same computer? That seems odd. Pick one and stick with it. Otherwise you risk one saying the other is "suspect." Everyone has their own opinions about all this, I can only speak from my own experience.
Yes, I said 2 anti-malware programs, and I meant it...
You cannot run 2 firewalls, but you can run 2 anti-malware. The reason I say to, is because there's no single program that covers everything.. Even running 2 cannot cover anything, some still get through. But the hole is a lot smaller than just running one.
How many pc's do I take care of? Well, 5 of my own, 4 more for the g/f and kids, about 20 for ex's and friends, and about 20 more for family members. (so ball-park of 50)
How long have I been doing it? 14 years..
Do I know everything? No. But I know that in 14 years, I've gotten 1 virus, and the kids got one virus.. I got Sircam.mm back in '01 or '02, and one of the kids got that av2009 crap from going to myspace and clicking on a link.
Spybot search and destroy gets rid of that av2009 immediately.
Also run "noscript" on FF, and it'll block scripts by default unless you tell it to allow them.
Also, running Comodo firewall with popups will alert you anytime something tries to start a process on your PC. At first, do not hit "always do this" because it will block you from internet access. After a while you'll see the patterns and know when something is ok or not.
Oh, and firewalls are not as critical from an incoming standpoint if you're behind a router as the router blocks most outside attempts anyway. But they are helpful for knowing what on your PC is trying to call out, and blocking it. And, having no firewall, with a direct internet connection will get your pc infected in under 10 minutes, almost guaranteed.
-edit- argh, friggin typo's!!! I should wake up before typing.
