Did you mix the oil yourself or the oil pump is still mount on the sled? I would check the rest of the exhaust system for restriction, or you are running the sled on flood condition all the time! Did ya burn lots of plug?

didn't mix the oil it's injected and is working good. no do not have it on enrich at all. smoke comes out the end of exhaust. it does have over 10,000 miles on it. could the rings just be bad? i'm starting to tear it apart to rebuild the upper half anyways. just want to know if that will fix it.

just put a bead of hi temp silicone in there and then it will go away its because after a long time of rust and corrosion the pipe dosent seal as well as it should and the silicone does a good job of fixing it

are you an idiot? that would be the proper way to fix it its leaking where the y pipe meets the motor because of old worn gaskets you fix that by putting some hi temp silicone aka gasket maker in there and then re tightening it and it is leaking inbetween the y pipe and pipe because its rusty and has a bad seal you also properly fix that by adding silicone if you were to bring it to a dealer they would do the exact same thing

Or running to rich if so how to even it out?

As soon as the hi temp silicone dries it will make a really tight seal. Possibly better then what a gasket could make.
xcfrider I had the same problem with the oil on my Indy 650.The exhaust was really rusted and bottom of the pipe to the point where there were pin holes. All from it leaking oil.

Take some emery cloth and clean the rust out of the joint, and put some new springs on it..
Also, make sure that the joint is still round. If you took the pipe off, and it fell, the end might have bent and not be sealing..
When you re-fit it, run it to get it good and hot then tap the joint with a small ball-peen hammer to make sure it seats.

If its just smokes leaking, just change the seals or put hi temp silicone. But if its oil leaking, you have something wrong. What's the compression ?

not sure just going to rebuild it. just got it last week for 200 bucks. can afford to put a few more into it. I'll have a fresh motor that way.

Just curious from looking at your pics... is that the normal placement for the battery, between the recoil housing and the pipe??? just wonder cause I've never seen that setup before???

for the gaskets, use high temp silicone. you could try it on the ball joint, but it wont work that good. i welded a good ball joint and header from another polaris. works good

Quote originally posted by polaris91 just put a bead of hi temp silicone in there and then it will go away its because after a long time of rust and corrosion the pipe dosent seal as well as it should and the silicone does a good job of fixing it Yup. Clean both parts up good removing all the oil. Seal it up with ultra copper, high temp oil resistant sealant then join exhaust pieces together and let it cure overnight. The springs are fine as is. This looks like a good time to clean the entire exhaust system, of all rust then re paint with high temp black paint. Then seal the components and assemble them.
