ok well i picked up this dirt bike for free and i got 2 motors i had one running and in order to try to find parts i need the year so can anyone tell me what year this is

Looks like a mid 70's Yamaha DT 175 to me. Like 74, 75, or 76....somewhere around there.

shouldn't there be a vin stamped into the neck of the frame? if so you could probably do a vin decode on google

Its a 74-76 Yamaha DT 175. I have a 125 which is the same except the motor, exhaust and rear shocks.

Yeah that is what it appears to be. My friend used to have a 75 DT125 and it looked very similar.
