I have a 98 trailblazer 250 with an aaen pipe on it. factory pilot jet (40), with a 140 main (130 was stock), needle was in position number one (full rich) with a spacer installed below the clip and air screw is 3/4 a turn out from a light seat. choke is set properly and here's my issue.
riding last year around the house, wheeler just made a pop sound and died, wouldnt restart. finally a few days later got it running but would only run if i quickly flipped the choke in and out, found out this spring it had 70 pounds compression and the top ring of the two ring piston wasnt there. new wiseco piston, gasket set and a good hone job, back in business right? wrong
first issue, would run and idle good for 10 seconds and then act like it was starving for fuel and then promptly die, this is not going above 1/3 throttle mind you...
took the new fuel filter i put on last year off and then the wheeler would run for any period of time.
Now, in neutral it will rev with a little sputter on the mid range but otherwise run good, once in drive and under a load anything above a third throttle and it will spit and sputter and not want to move, flip the choke to half and it runs like a raped ape, but once it hits the pilot circuit its too rich and will die unless choke turned off.
I increased the main jet to a 170 today with similar results, carb boot looks good but is original, and it has a new base gasket and a new head gasket, so i doubt they're the issue, this wheeler is driving me crazy and im about to send her up in flames! Any ideas?
