Just wondering how all the farmers around here are making out so far.

Around here there is nothing happening yet. Flood water is still high, it's frigid every day and I'm starting to get antsy.

So far all I've done is put a liquid fertilizer kit on our planter, change the oil and filters on all the tractors and pull the air seeder out of the shed. Today, not even working on that since it's cold and rainy outside.

Me and my new truck!

Our three tandams.

Planter with fertilizer on it now.

Planter and 8300 in front of the shop.

Planter and 8300.

9420 in the shop for spring maintenece.

Every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. That means every day you see me, that's the worst day of my life.

We started seeding this week until it started raining again, its been cold out to. In fact it even snowed today for a little bit. We have 500 acres of winter wheat that looks pretty good so far if it doesnt freeze. Could be another interesting year.

We bought another 9880 Ford with triples and 425HP this year, thats about our only new piece of equipment.

My dad was hoping to be planting last weekend into this week. I have not talked to him to find out if he actually got in the field or not though...

After we got that snow, and now with the crappy rainy/wind mix, We prob. won't be planting until about Monday or so. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get into full swing until about the graduation time (May 16th). Until they open up the dams on the Sheyenne, a bunch of my fields are under water. The good news is is my house hasn't floated away yet, but there's been water pretty doggone close to it.

Guys are going like crazy here. I have done alot of chisel plowing for my uncle and some of the ground was really hard and dry. He hasnt started planting corn yet but most have and I heard a rumor that someone was done. We started plating onions a month ago too. This is really early for us.

We had about a week of 80 degrees and sunny, so a lot of fields got planted and a lot of stuff sprayed. Since like Tuesday its been raining, probably got 1-2 inches this week so everybody has stopped for now. Last year the weather was so bad people were just planting in mud and praying because they couldnt wait any longer. Maybe this year will be better.

We've done a couple thousand acres of custom anhydrous, and did a thousand acres for ourselves back home. Got all the spring tillage done, and have a couple hundred acres of corn planted. Dad is pretty happy so far, we're rained out at the moment but it sounds like possibly tomorrow they might be back at it.

We broke out the back window in my dads new pickup pulling anhydrous tanks, pickup doesn't even have 5000 miles on it and already needs a new back window!
Other than that everything has been going pretty smoothly, been working out a few kinks with the RTK system and the new hydraulic drive and row shut offs on the planter.

Nope, 75 is still closed. The water is still running over 201 by town here, but it's open to "local traffic only" again now, which means everyone is driving through it.

Still pretty wet in our area, we keep getting rain and more rain. I wish we could shift some of this precip to the winter or mid summer when its too dry.

We haven't turned a wheel yet. I'm getting excited to get in as I only have weekends to help with spring's work and harvest. I hope that we'll have something rolling by the end of this weekend.

0 acres planted 8,000 to go... Haven't even scratched anything yet. Still got almost 600 acres of beets that we were unable to get last fall to plow under. Not a good start so far.

finished the lagoon today. there was still ice in it. we are cold and dry very dry. starting corn tomarrow for a neighbor he has 100 acres to get in, then next week get the manure disked in. i have 20 acres i might be able to rent but have to get the corn off it for the guy first. maybe by the end of the week we can get our own corn in and then get ready for beans, not in any hurry for beans since the ground is still so cold at this point we are not loosing any growing days by waiting. and as dry as it is i dont want to till any more than we have to.

i have been playing with electric fans on the tractor to replace the big engine fan for cooling to help with efficiency. right now the 4640 doing field work is buring 5 gallons per hour with a50/50 mix of diesel and veggy oil. i would like to see if we could save another gallon or better per hour with electric fans.

We almost have all the liquid crap spread.(We had a day of down time because we had to run irrigatinpipe from the pond to the crap pit.It was like pudding.)And the fields are chisled. In the next few days the planter will be out. Also the 8640 has a major hydrullic leak.

I sure wish I would've known that Friday.
Took a load of carrots up to Winnipeg(1 1/2 hours at the border)
Followed their detour up to Winnipeg. 50 miles out of my way.
By the way, your roads in Manitoba SUCKKKKKKK!!!!!
Unloaded in Winnipeg then had to drive to Boisevian to some farmers house to get a load of barly seed to deliver to Ashland Wi.
Took Hwy. 1 over to Hwy 10. Nasty roads.
Here are some pics. of the fields/lakes north of Grand forks on Hwy 29
