We started combining soybeans today. They are 17ish percent. Yeild is good though, 45ish. Plants are bone dry, very very dusty. Ground is piss wet and the header keeps bulldozing. Runing a John Deere 630F Hydraflex at about 2100 psi which is very light and still bulldozing. Terribly annoying. I definately got my exercise climbing in and out of the combine today.

Doesn't look like rain tomorrow so we'll try to hammer off as much as we can.

Well we managed to get a few days without rain.. Got caught up drying beans yesterday, and switched the dryer over to corn.. Average Moisture is running right around 30% Dryer is on it's knees trying to keep up. at 20% it will do 3800 bu/hr at 30% though she is doing all she can to get 1000 bu/hr. Going to be a long @ss harvest if we don't get some good drying weather.. We still have 75% of our beans in the field around here and tomorrow should get a good jump on them..

3800 bushels an hour!

How big is this dryer?

I think our corn is screwed, it's kinda moldy. Insurance people are coming to look. Tested some today, still 35%. I hope they write it off so we can get rid of it and forget about this lousy year.

40 acres of soybeans left.

I've got a Delux DPX8T Series Superline grain dryer. 20% corn it's factory rated at 2500 bu, but I've added super nova burners and replaced the discharge and leveling 10inch augers with drags. Crank the heat up to about 220 and let it go. Can average 3800 bu an hour.

Staring to see some mold coming in here too, after it goes threw the dryer though you can't see it. Test weights are low though.. Ave is about 51.5

We still have about 500 acres of beans left. It's been a slow crappy harvest. The beans are probably averaging 25-30.

All our crops except corn are done, corn is written off due to mold and we started working it down today with the combine. Closed the sieves and took off the elevator doors. Our Geringhoff header does best job of chopping of anything we've got so that's what we're using.

I've put on about 1600 acres of NH3 in the last 8 days. I will finish that tomorrow, 50 acres left, ran out of fertilizer and fuel. Then hopefully burn the stupid corn stalks, deep till the fields and put everything away. To hell with this lousy year.

Lots of mold on the corn here to, its a shame as this was a year that seemed to be one for the books for us and many others. Beans are all out now.

Corn is still 26-30 here, but mold is not as bad as we thought it was going to be. Even though the TW is running right around 52 on average, still seeing yields right about 185 dry on the heavy ground, and about 165 on the sand.

20 acres of beans left that are under water. About 400 acres of corn. We are way ahead of most people in the area. Corn is right about 20%, TW is average. It's raining again as I type this.

The farmers here hope it freezes soon so they can get their beans off before the snow falls. A lot of guys won't be able to get their fall tillage done. Bean stubble doesn't really matter but there is lots of corn still standing. I heard last week there was still 85-90% still standing. Beans about 30%.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Neighbor had some stalks catch on fire, straight truck was dragging some stalks and they lit. Not too bad, it burned most of the field by the time the fire dept got there, but he wanted to let it burn, free potash. lol

Around here this year has been great. Its been dry and in the 60s for the last two weeks. I think almost all of the beans are in and probably half the corn. They are saying its going to be even warmer and dryer this weekend and next week so its non stop running. Many people are well over 200 bushel an acre corn and 70 bushel and acre beans. This has been one of the best years that my grandpa has seen. I think this was one of the few years he had over 200 bushel corn, and it wasnt in one of his good fields. But hes been done for a few weeks so we are working on adding on a lean-to for the cattle.
