Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield from Metallica. I know neither are "the best" on the planet but I like em.
i hate hammet, guy cant even write his own solos.
depends what you listen to, for my music my favourite, not for solos but for general song writting deffinetly mille petroza of kreator.

Pretty solid!
It's too bad for as much as I love music, "0" musical talent in these bones. I have a decent ear for what is good though. Open to just about everything. There are even some polka songs I think are pretty solid. I usually get a WTF look when I plug that stuff in the CD player
That guy is amazing!! I saw him on tv jamming with Clapton once and I love the guys tone and technique. very original
My favorite guitarist is probably Eddie Van Halen. that guy knows great guitar tone as well and plays with incredible feel. Brad paisley is pretty damn good to. Ive heard him reffered to as Eddie Van Halen on cornbread.
but really, there are so many great guitarist that its impossible to choose one as the "best"

Edit
I had typed a reply to this, but then I went and listened to a song by this band "kreator" you mentioned and decided that a 15 year old who listens to that is lacking processing power in his brain and therefore his un-educated comment can be ignored.

I may have to disagree, Batio is an excellent player, but, he is all about speed and speed alone doesn't make you good. I also think that Joe Walsh is pretty good too. I like the way he plays, its...just good.

you say this band "kreator" as if your dissing them, just to let you know they are far superior than metallica. and another thing you say im missing power in my brain because i listen to that, haha wow you have to get a life your making fun of a kid because he knows more then you do about guitar. i actualy play guitar so i know what is and isnt hard to play. another thing is kirk hammet has never written a solo by him self its always james and lars who tell him what to do, he tried once on the unforgiven but they hated it. so next time you wanna lecture someone on how much brain power they have why dont you just keep your mouth shut ok?

You are right, i don't listen to much of batio's stuff because it isn't my style, but i don't think he could be outplayed.

I like Willie Nelson.
Steve Vai is playing with Sammy Hager and and bass dude from Van Halen. The band is Chickenfoot. I heard a couple of tracks over the weekend and it sounded kickass.
Joe Satriani is playing with Chickenfoot, not Steve Vai.

Glad someone mentioned Clapton.
As great as most of the guitarists mentioned are, Clapton always plays extremely clean.....hes a perfectionist.
His live stuff sounds better than his recording.....as weird as that sounds.

You are correct every member of Incubus is extremely talented. I seen them on their Morning View tour and they are such good musicians that there live concerts sound as good if not better than their albums. Although I have to disagree with you on one point, Morning View is probably my least favorite Incubus album, still a great album though.
