So I bought a mountain bike after wanting one for sometime. I saw an ad for the local sport authority grand opening and they had this diamondback topanga and a ironhorse quantum on sale for %50 off. I didn't want to break the bank on an expensive high quality specialized bike because I didn't know exactly what area of mountain biking I'll enjoy the most so I went with this entry level bike that I figure I can try everything with and then go from there. I got it out the door with a extended 1 year service plan that includes parts and labor if anything breaks plus a tune up for 333 which I thought was pretty good.

I already managed to hurt myself in front of my dad, I went to hop down this short embankment and I hit the stumps of some cut down brush and took a tumble, bent the shifter lever but I just bent it back and I was back truckin'. I'm super stoked to ride some of the trails around alaska this summer, I don't really think I have taken advantage of what this state has to offer in the summer that well so I hope to make up for it this year. Tomorrow I want to pop down to the local skate park before work and see if they have any dirt jumps setup and this weekend I found a short trail on the internet that I want to go ride and a friend of ours told me of one just a few miles from my house that should be good once it dries up a bit.

Anyone else out here bike?

The Gravity Worx Racing name comes from me racing Downhill MTB and extreme downhill with a pro license under the Gravity Worx name.

This is when I first built this one

here's a few various pics from over the years.

This was in 2001 at the AMBC national at Bogus Basin ski area here in Boise

This was at the State Games of Oregon 2003 (I got gold that day)

This was 1998 at the AMBC nationals

Huge air in Sisters, Oregon

Steep one in Utah (just about a second before very much pain)

Looks like "Break Levers-R-Us" in the background:) I guess you must have an E-Bay store?! I was trying to figure that out more than look at your bike. Does look nice BTW!

Close. lol
Dual throttles are us, actually. lol
I own Gravity Worx Racing.
This was taken last year when I was still using Dia-Tech levers for my lefty type throttles.
look at www.gravityworxracing.com on the snowmobile side of the site and you will see.
I normally build them up 50 or so at a time

I knew it was something like that. Nice Pics! I'll check out your site

Is that you jumping that road? That looks insane and one on the mountain (last one) looks nearly verticle. I guess you are a pro at this or it sure looks it.

My last race was the Oregon state championships at Mt. Hood, Oregon, 2004.

Well good thing because you would have been wasting your money for the most part. Ive been biking prolly since i could walk. I race downhill up until i blew my knee out last summer and out of all the bikes ive ridden specialized has to be the company that i was most disappointed in. Mostly because you spend a buncha money on a expected high quality product which other than the frame is loaded up with the crappiest components they could get their hands on. And on top of that many of their low end frames are prone to cracking. I know all this because i am a bike mechanic at a specialized dealer and we always had people bringing their specialized bikes in because of component failure.

But, im not saying specialized is all bad, if you got some money to drop and want the best warranty on a DH/FR bike in the bussiness then theyre the ones to see.

My favorite companys that ive ridden are RMB, i had a rocky mountain RMX for awhile and it was fun but heavy. I sold it and downsized to a Kona Stinky and they are fun bike let me tell you. The only problem i ever had with it was it had Sun Rims and my back one blew up at a Downhill race at Northstar. I sold my stinky and bought a COVE Peeler DH. I loved that bike so much i sold it when i blew my knee out and bought a COVE Peeler frame right before COVE planned on discontinuing them even though i was on crutches.

Nice, i got into riding stiffees when i was in between DH bikes. I love the avid codes you got on there, when i first got mine i threw myself over the handlebars just tappin them like i would have on my old Hayes 9s.

I noticed after i posted that they had a reservoir on top that didnt like like the avids. Still if josh bender can bomb cliffs and just bout anything else i think theyre good enough for the rest of us!

This is me jumpin in the miniture bike park that we built in my back yard.

Ive got a '97 Cannondale Super-V (full-suspension). I know that a lot of people talk about the frame problems that Cannondale has (referring to them as, "crack-n-fails") but mine has been good thus far.
I used to ride trails with it a lot, but many of the trails around here have been shut down, so other than taking it to NE Wisconsin and riding some trails a couple times a year I mostly use it for daily exercise.

Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

Now granted im no Silver Medal in the Mt Hood Nationals (Darin), but i still enjoy hucking myself down the side of a big hill and seeing how much skin I can leave out there.

Raleigh M40, dual walled rims, i've bent to many rims jumping off stuff, so i bit the bullet and got a set of $120 dollars per rim, probably my best investment on the bike, 2 seasons and not even so much as a busted spoke, let alone a bent rim.

^^^ yup, good bike

Id expect you to say that, considering you own the exact same bike. (except yours is 1 size bigger)
My next bike is gonna be a Fuji though. Cannondale has really gone downhill since they went through bankruptcy and were bought out by a investment firm.
Instead of innovating and coming out with new product, the new owners are just squeezing every last penny out of Cannondale.
I cant complain about my Cdale though. Back in those days, Cannondale was a great company. Its just a shame that they made the mistake of getting into the dirtbike and ATV market before the product was ready and the dirtbike/ATV division ended up bringing the whole company down.
