Try creating a new wireless connection through the internet connection wizard, I had a similar problem where all other networks but mine could connect. It worked for me so I don't see why you couldn't give it a shot. If it does I expect payment in cookies with frosting.

I can see that this isnt a simple solution. You might have to call and get help either from you ISP or you computer company (dell, hp, ect).

It is completely dead...no IE, no Firefox, no messenger, etc. I tried to connect to the router, but could not load that page either. The IP, Default, and DNS are all 192.168.x.x as you mentioned.

DNS should not be a "192.168.x.x" address. The "192.168.x.x network" is your home LAN. DNS servers are outside your network and should have a different network number. Unless your router is different than all the routers I've worked with. I've never seen a router that tells the workstation that the router itself is the DNS server and then forwards DNS requests to the actual server.

Can you ping www.google.com or any other website from a command prompt?

click Start | Run, type in "cmd"(without the quotes), press Enter.

Now type this into the command prompt window.

ping www.google.com

Is the ping successful?

most, even cheap routers have a dns service in the os. when it doesn't find the addy in the table it goes to the wan dns ip it got from the dhcp request to the modem. if it doesnt have the service it should froward the dns query out the wan.

Try to ping 127.0.0.1. What is the result?

If that works then try to ping your default gateway, which I believe is 192.168.0.1 on NetGear routers. "ipconfig" from a command prompt will tell you what your default gateway is.

Neither of these should be a problem since you are already getting an IP Address from your router.

I would suggest upgrading the firmware on your router, if you haven't already done so.

I would also check Windows Update and the manufacturer of your wireless card's website for updated drivers.

If none of this works I could help you via Remote Assistance if you'd like. It would make it alot easier for me to diagnose the problem.

I have a Linksys router. I do not have static DNS server addresses entered into the router configuration. All of my workstations show the actual address of the DNS server when I perform an "ipconfig /all", not the WAN IP Address as the DNS server. Although it does have an area to enter static DNS addresses. You are right though, it should forward the DNS query out the WAN interface to the internet.

This one went fine. 4 packets sent, 4 packets received.

This one timed out with all 4 packets.

No offense Quinlan, but if you've really been having this problem for a month now (since 5/18) perhaps this is the not best venue to resolve your issue.

I mean besides the idiot that that hikacked the thread for a brief time with useless information, there has been quite a bit of good advice provided to you. However when it takes 2 days or more for a response from you advice is being repeated and people do tend to get off track with troubleshooting steps to resolve this. More timely feedback from you would probably make this whole thing go a lot easier for everyone involved here trying to help you.

just an observation...
