For the kids on street bikes. There's a reason. (he was very lucky.)
70mph wheelie, 1st. gear got away from him. 20 years old with a kid on the way. Think about it.
What's your problem? RUFWM?

Yikes that's some serious road rash! Not you is it?
I'm guessing not judging by the description.
But still. Ouch. He's pretty lucky.

No it's not me. I was right behind him though. It's crazy how little he was hurt. I thought for sure he was gonna be more messed up from watching him go down.

I have a friend that got in a wreck last year where a car pulled out in front of him. No helmet on, somehow he was able to tuck, roll, stand up, and walk away in one smooth motion. He was pretty lucky.

OUCH!
I wear full armored leather 99% of the time on the bike. Was getting picked on for that just yesterday.
And I don't do 70 mph wheelies either

October 15th, 1988 totaled a bike for the first time and slept in my own bed that night. October 18th, 2008 wrecked a bike for the 2nd time, slept in my own bed that night also! Was wearing the right gear both times and wasn't screwing around either time. Some people are just fortunate enough to survive..............
It's all about the ride to get there, the destination doesn't matter!

He was lucky on that one. A friend of the family (under 18 yrs old) was pulling a wheelie and lost control, hit the curb. He was in critical condition for a long time. He did pull through it though.

Probably a good idea. He was in jeans and a T shirt. Quote originally posted by 2SEWINGS

He didn't go to the Hospital until the next morning, I guess he couldn't get any sleep because of all the road rash.

I'm pretty parinoid of bouncing my head off the road so I rarely ride without a helmet, armored jacket, armored gloves, and good boots. Even at that, I should probably be doing more to protect myself.
Looking at the pictures, a good jacket would of saved him some serious pain.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Damn I would hate to have that road rash. I couldn't imagine putting a shirt on or rolling over in bed.

Ouch!!! Nasty road rash.
He should be wearing some type of protective clothing.
Check out this link. Spendy stuff but more durable than leather. Ask 2SEwings about it.
My wife has been making these suits for 14 years now.

I dont think falling off a moped at 55mph would have a very good outcome either.

Just last weekend 2 or 3 guys died on their harleys up here. One of them died on impact, and the other one got up rode down to the bar and died there and i heard another guy died when he was being airlifted.
