Well i was forced to buy a new toy. Yes forced. The future wifes dad is going through a divorce and so to limit what his wife can take he is selling off stuff. He came right out and told me i was buy his 2005 20' starcraft pontoon boat and trailer off him for................$5000 cdn. less then a 1/4 of what they typically go for. So i am the proud new owner of a boat. The boat has less then 50hrs use on it and less then 20hrs on the new 60hp merc with still a year left on the warranty. The boat does need some thing like a good cleanning and i am already shopping for a bimini top and cover for it. Other then a few thing i want to add like a better stereo,some more lighting, table and a grill. She is ready to go.
I now have to rename the boat as it is named after his so to be ex wife. So suggestions are welcome. I was thinking about the name "Forced-X-Pense" or "Sweet Deal".
Here are some quick pics i snapped as we pulled the boat out of storage.

LOL i know i got a steal on it. The plan for right now is to keep it the rest of the summer and maybe next year, while adding some of the things i mentioned above. Then maybe sell it for a profit. It all depends on how much we use it and how much of a hassle it is to store. As of right now the g/f and i live in a town house so all of my toys are stored at friends and i no longer want to inconvience them. This morning the g/f dropped off paper work with a morgage firm to see what we can get and then i guess it might be house hunting time.
This could end up being an expensive year. I have given up on getting a second sled this year as the boat sucked the down payment for that not to mention that it is now a new money pit for this year at least.
On the drive back from Kenora.Ont(where boat was stored) my future father in law told me the guy storing the boat for him offered him 10g cash for it hoping he could get a sweet deal on it, but that he had to decline as he already took 5g for it. Needless to say he was not happy.
Now im just adding up all the new cost i will be incurring this summer so far its a fair bit. Dam toys.

Nice buy. Starcraft is a well built pontoon. You basically bought the trailer and motor . . . They tossed in the boat for free.

Actually here motors tend to go for about a $1000cdn per 10hp, so if you look at it like that i got the boat and trailer for free. Now if i can hold off on getting a new house and stop this unexpected spending of funds.

Iam not going to lie i see some people at the lake and they named there cabin the money pit and i have seen boats with names like that and i always think what a way to kill the pride u you should have in the object you own by addmiting to everyone your a broke ass **** cus of it, now i understand you got a KICK ASS deal on that boat but maybe these people did to i just have that though in my mind about it, is that what you want people to think when your crusing around on your boat. i would go with somthing a lill difrent, name her the titian!!! see how that works out if it sinks first trip out...... change the name

As for the name its a now running joke. Since my future father inlaw pretty muched forced us to buy his boat. it was something i initially did not want to buy and told him so on several days that i had no need nor want for suck i toy. But since he is my boss also he pretty much told me and that i had bought the boat and that my bounus from last year would be used to cover it. There is more to the story, but its long and im to tired to type it all out.
Needless to say this is a forced expense. One im not completely upset at since it was and is a great deal. As for what people would think about the name, i could careless about other people i dont know and their opinions. They can think what they want, im not in high school and its not a popularity contest. If i cared about what other people though about the name of my boat i think i would more issuse then that since it seems to be a pretty shallow thing.
Its a joke to me, my family and friends.
