This is in a 800 storm-I think its to much-should i rip it and trade down or should i try to keep it running-i heard they are real finicky-and just keep out of it-ive heard of swapping for a 800 or 900 twin-any suggestions?

Well it is up to you on what you want to deal with. I love my 680 triple. It feels like more power from the mid to top end on my ultra than a xc700. I raced a xc700 and he took me off of the line and then I passed him in the mid. I also love the sound of my triple than a twin. If it is the right price go for it if you are looking for a twin. The other thing is what year of 900 as well.

a claimed hp of 230 out of an 800 is basically a run it for 10 seconds and rebuild.

If this if the same engine I'm thinking about, he's found low compression on a cylinder, did a teardown and discovered stock pistons.

Now, I've not gotten an 800 triple to 230 hp yet, but I don't see it happening with stock pistons.

BTW, this is a couple week old thread that got resurrected.

95 - Storm 800 - Modded - AKA: FrankenStorm - Totalled near 100mph at Tug Hill!
96 - XLT/SP with Storm 800 trip/trip and now EFI - FrankenStorm II lives...
95 - RXL -- Sale Pending --
05 - Edge 800 long track - Stayin' stock for now..

210 hp on an 800 is a very, very good running engine, I have a hard time seeing 230 out of an open mod 800?
