Does anyone here know if I can put 2 inch risers on my 1998 polaris xlt special 600 triple without having to get new cables and extend the wires? Any comments would be great! Thanks!

if its a evolved chassis, than the answer is no. you can barely fit 1", i had an evolved chassis, and i put a 1" on it, it worked, but i couldnt use full turns as there was too much stress of the wires & cables, so i extended the cables and put a completely new set-up, but then sold it and put on a 3" non-pivot riser block when i sold it.

and if you buy a brake line from student driver, make sure you ask for an non-edge chassis master cylinder end line fitting, as the brake line ends are different from edge and indy/evolved chassis.

Present sleds:

1998 Polaris Indy 500: red screens, red/black Sportech handguards with billet mounts, red C&A pro Razors with 9” sharpers, red gripper running board trim, red hyfax, billet pull handle, billet brake lever, silver front & rear bumpers, low black windshield, custom graphics, clutched (Primary: Polaris blue primary spring #7041080, 10m5 weights, sheave/belt clearance is set at .015''. Secondary clutch: 42/36 helix, SLP black driven spring), geared (dropped 1 tooth), 121" x 15" x 0.91" Camoplast/Polaris track with 96 studs, stripped warning decals, white-faced edge chassis speedometer & tachometer.(For sale).

Ya, that's true.
I was thinking wedge. Evolved does have less room to go up.

The best thing you can do is to unbolt your bars and see how far you can go.
Measure it at the straight forward position, full left position, and full right.
Turn the skis with the bars and see where it pull what and where.
Look at your brake line in particular. Re route it straight up from the master cylinder if you can.
That normally gains a person some right there.

Wires are easy to extend and cheep,
Do them 1 at a time by splicing in a 4 or so inch piece of 18 gage wire with automotive butt conectors.
Shrink wrap when you are done and it works/looks great.
Total cost to extend wires this way is about $8

got a pic? the evolved chassis has the 1 piece seat/tank, they have a hard plastic handlebar cover with two switched on top(hand and thumb warmer switches), the key/choke is infront of your right knee in the shroud, the headlight is 1 rectange with reflectors on the sides, there are removable side panels, etc........ but the 1998 xlt's were in the evolved chassis, so i 99% its an evolved.

ive been there trying to do the risers, and to be honest, you really have to extend your cables to go anywhere up. and the only way your can get your brake cable to go stright frokm the master cylinder to the brake system is if you get rid of the stock handlebasr set up or cut off ther plastic handlebar cover. ill post some pics of my sled later with my risers & so you can tell if its a evolved chasssis.

when i extended my cables, i had 6" more brake line & 10" more throttle cable lenght. i put 4" pivot riser blck, pivot adapter, protaper bars(2" rise), i got an added 2.5" or so of brake line length after i got the brske line out of the stock handlebar cover & i bent the brake caliper side metal line outlet stright.

A two inch riser is definately not a waste of time. I noticed a big difference with mine. But in my opinion if your already going to have to extend all the cables you might as well go bigger. But i guess its all up to you and what you want.

It should be an aggressive chassis

http://www.polarisfiles.com/forum/index....998&id=198

On a wedge sled, 2 inch rise is a needed distance due to the poor engineering of the handlebars and brake lever gouging the hood flaps when opening and closing the hood. Nothing would make me more upset than someone opening my hood incorrectly. After I installed the riser I had no gouging problems.
If you are a stand up racer wannabe the 2 inch riser will not be comfortable standing. I have a 6 inch riser on my Prox and it feels like ape hangers sitting....I don't ride standing but I will live with it.

Also the steering system seems to be like an evolved chassis. Yours should have the handlebars that will move fore and aft.

yea, i am 5'6 and on my evolved chassis, i had a total rise of 8.75" from the steering post to the middle of the grips. and it was perfect for sitting, and it was pretty comfy when sitting.

i have a powermadd throttle extension for sale if anyone's interested. will sell cheap!! adds 10" of length to theottle cable.

and i thought polaris never put a 600 XLT tripple in the aggresive chassis? my buddies dad has a 1998 polaris XLT special, and its a evolved chassis.

polaris_special, what are thinking now? you havent aded anything since post #1, lol?

dodger, i like the pro-x in your avatar!
