I'm going to be buying a new phone at the end of the month, as my phone has all but given up on me. I'm looking at the LG bold. Anyone here have it? Looks like a nice phone. Any thoughts?

My sister has the LG Dare with the attachable keyboard case thingy and I think she's been pretty satisfied with it to date. Other than that, I haven't actually used one much myself except for tinkering. Check out www.phonearena.com They have a lot of great reviews and comparisons.

O ok, awesome thanks Erick. I'll check that site out. This time I thought I would check out my phone before I bought it. Last time I didn't and ended up with a LG Chocolate Flip. Nice phone for about 5 months. Then it gives up on you. Everybody has problems with them. I'm hoping not to buy a lemon phone this time. :)

I highly recommend the LG enV touch. I have it and really like it a lot. It has a touch screen on the front which you can turn sideways on to text, unlike the Voyager, and it has a full qwerty keyboard as well. 5/5 stars!

Ok thanks, my provider doesn't have that one though I don't think. I'm going to go with the Dare I think. All the reviews seems to really like it.

if i were you i would defiantly ask to try out the phone before you buy it. some touch screen phones are very difficult to use, the touch screen must be pushed harder than you would think and it makes it difficult to do things quickly like text.
Bambi would have been a better and shorter movie if he was shot in the beginning with his mother

Thanks for that. That's a good thought. They only have dead phones there though, Like with no brains. They have to order a real one for me if I want to buy one. So that part sucks. I have heard the screen on the Dare isn't as responsive as the enV, but they say it works great for texting despite that. Plus my buddy had one and just loves it. He texts a lot too. So I'm not to scared. :)

most providers have a 30 day trade in period so if you dont like the phone you can return it and pick out a different phone. be careful tho they might try to nail you with a restocking fee or return fee.

I had picked up an HTC Touch Diamond in March, "Smartphone" my ass. What a piece of crap. Touchscreens are horrible to use. The camera was ok, but the battery life was horrid. Sure it would last a couple of days if you didn't use anything, but what's the point of having it if you're not gonna use it?
I also found out I have no use for having email and youtube and all that crap on my phone.
So I took it back and went super-retro. I now have a Sanyo SCP-7050. Best. Phone. Ever.
It has no features. It's great, it sends texts and makes phone calls. Battery lasts about 5 days with normal usage. It's military spec so it can take a beating, which is handy around the farm. I'm sure by now that stupid touchscreen woulda been broken. I can hear this one ring, I can hear people when they call me, they can hear me on the other end. And to top it all off, because I live so close to the US border cell service around here is not very good, that stupid smartphone never had service, even most cell phones don't work in my mom and dad's yard, my phone works. Everywhere. It occasionally drops a call, but not very often. That HTC didn't work in my house, if it would ring I'd have to run outside or I'd lose the call. This Sanyo just works.
These smartphones nowadays are so stupid. I hate them. My current phone doesn't even have a camera. It's awesome.
Every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. That means every day you see me, that's the worst day of my life.

Yes yes Polaris-man. You have said that on here before.... I really don't care. I have use for a camera, email, and all that. YOU might not. But some people do. BTW the Dare isn't even a smart phone. It's only about the closest you'll get without paying for a smart phone plan. I have checked out the reviews on youtube too now, and it lokos liek just what I need. I got them to set one aside for me. Going to go get it tomorrow. :)

I feel the same way. So instead of spending $90 a month on a cell bill to have internet I bought a wireless internet card and pay $40 for that on my laptop and only $19 for unlimited text and talk on my cell. I dropped my phone out of the truck yesterday and other than some scratches it is like new. Touch phones are "cool" I suppose but pretty impractical if you live an active lifestyle, especially in the country or low service areas.
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. If you have big thumbs, I wouldn't recommend the Dare. I have a lot of difficulty texting with my girlfriend's phone, it's not a lot of fun.
Try the enVTouch. Flip open keyboard and a touch screen. Best of both worlds.

Well I did get the Dare. And so far I really like it. There's only been a few quirks so far that I'm not to fond of. But over all it's pretty awesome. I have no problems with the buttons being to small. The touch screen seems very finger friendly so far.

Agree. My phone is about 3yrs old now "LG 6100" and I wouldnt trade it for anything,I carry it in my pocket at work and when farming so it gets very abused and dirty,I have got it wet many times and it still works like a charm. I did drop the display right on a sharp rock and crack the lens a little though. The new phones just dont seem to stand up like the old ones,my extended battery will go 3-4 days no problem as well. I do have a camera on mine which I like,it has came in handy a few times haha.

The main thing I think is that when you turn the phone on it's side to use the keybo or what ever you call it, the buttons are a bit to small. So I just text using the normal T nine mode. It has restarted it self a few times when web browsing, not sure why. And one day it didn't want to send picture messages. But that's all good now. Another thing is when you are in your contacts, when you are selecting a letter to view those contacts, the letters are really small. So it's a bit hard to do with your finger. But it works. Over all though I like it. The whole touch thing just takes some getting used to.
