its so true that you have no idea what some guy has strapped under a 440 hood.

On the trail that may be true...but we're not on a trail. We're on a public forum where the kid already stated that he had "different like, pipe, handlebars, head, track and was raced for 2 years"...none of which make it a mod sled.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

"daddys hotrod" well your right on that one, im a daddy and its mine so that would make it a daddys hotrod

but im not bashing the big cc sleds, or anything with big cubes. id love to have 800 in my sled but cant afford it, im just sick of everyone bashing the new guys on here that are asking about doing things to what they actually can afford like the 500s and 440s, my first post on here was about that and everyone ripped on me for even thinking about it and the same happens to alot of the newer members asking about it... and saving up usually isnt an option with all the bills so they make do with what they have.

if out on the trails people acted like they do in here, if someones sled broke down in the middle of no where and they dint really know whats wrong with it people woulnt stop like they do, instead theyd just drive by laughing and calling them an idiot... this is spose to be people helping eachother out and giving advice no matter what kinda sled they have instead of saying its not worth it or nit picking at things about it that have nothing to do with the question

to bad he said that after mr.the owner of a real mod sled opened his mouth and said how does a blue headlight cover make this a mod sled.for all we know the kid could have a 440 sleeper that has a 800 motor in it.

Yes...but he did ASK before he criticized. If the kid had something under the hood, he would have stated it, and alot of this probably would have been averted. BUT...Hogger asked, the kid stated, and now we're balls deep in no-mod land.

even if the kid would have had some engine mods or some motor work done we probably would have still heard how its not a mod sled.plus dont even try to tell me he was asking if the blue light was the mod to know what was up on the sled he was just being a smarta*s

Threads like this should not be moderated. Because the effort to teach newb's that they are calling things by the wrong name, would then be wasted...

Being a newb in this myself a couple years ago and then getting into modding as I have shown examples of above, I personally take crafting seriously and do not consider store-bought-bolt-on parts on a sled something that makes it a "mod" sled.

The kids sled, as he has so far stated, is not a mod sled. It simply has a few store bought add-on's.

And truly, the stuff spoken here is nothing, compared to the tongue lashing he'd get if he went to a sled race and told them he had a mod sled.. They'd say much ruder things then laugh him right off the track.

Maybe there should be a sticky titled "what makes a sled 'mod' sled."...

so i guess what im really trying to say is QUIT WHINING AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, next time someone says they have a mod sled say they got a 440 and you have a 700 race them and see what happens...things arent always what they seem bud :P

I agree totally that any other thing you do to change it from stock is a modification so that makes it a mod sled and ya let the sleds do most of the talking

Most things are exactly what they sound like running, you just need to know what you're listening to.... If it sounds like a 440 with a gutted can, it probably is. If it sounds like a triple with big-volume pipes, it probably is.

Oh, and when a kid gets his hands on his first sled and starts out a thread with "what else can i do to make it look better on a budget", it's not likely there's a lot of hidden mods..

What exactly makes this sled a "mod"? Is it the stripped decals or the blue headlight cover?

i bet that isnt even your sled in the picture. your all talk but at least i have a picture of my sled not a oil digger

Damn! You caught me, I am all talk and have never worked on a sled a day in my life. Yup that isn't my sled in my signature picture, I don't own it and didn't custom build it from the ground up.

Oil digger? It's an oil pumper, and what the hell does that have to do with anything? Toolbox!

That would be a helluva lot closer than a headlight cover and stripped decals... LMAO!!!

Maybe if you Take a M-10 Mountain Suspension, bolt it up to a TWIN chassis, Mount a TRIPLE into a chassis designed for a twin, do clutching and gearing from scratch, Fab a cooling system, run a digital gauge system, figure out how to shave almost 40 lbs from a sled and still have it function like a production sled. THEN maybe you'd be close.

Until then keep dreaming and adding headlight covers

M-10 Mountain Suspension,

M-10 is a better trail skid than it ever was in the mountains
(I just had to throw that in Danny) lol

This thread is turning into a pissing match though and I think it's run it's course.
I'm going to go ahead and lock it up before any one has to be moderated because I do see it heading south.
