I have the 89xi Scott goggles with an auto tint lens with the nose protector. I like then except if i am riding when its really cold the lens doesnt like to tint from the blue to the yellow and sucks for night riding, but the second i bring then to a warmer temp they tint back.

I have Scott Voltage X goggles w/the nose guard. I'm very happy with the goggles, I only have a problem with my eye glasses fogging, never the goggles.

As for a helmet get what fits your head the best, and lightweight. I personally make sure the helmet is Snell rated.

I tried on as many helmets as I could before I purchased one, but I ended up with a Scorpion helmet and haven't looked back sense. The graphics are awesome, it never fogs (obviously good goggles are the factor), and it's comfortable. Plus it was priced fairly imo. Take a look....

I just picked up a new setup for this season. FOX V2 Hart & Huntington edition with Smith Snow Warp goggles (Doodle model in the graphic series.)

As far as goggles go...I have Scott Turboflow's, 08 model 509's, SPY TargaII's, and now my Smith Snow Warps. I've always liked the Scotts, and took a liking to the SPY's this last year. I would not hesitate to buy either again. I've heard really positive things from the Smiths, so am giving them a whirl. I did not care for the 509's...use them for riding quad mainly...

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

Be sure to try on the helmet before you buy, or at least try on the size in the brand you are looking at.
They do vary some and poor fitting helmet can be bad.
Headaches and less actual protection if too tight, and even more damage to your mellon if too loose and you rattle around in it during a crash.
Don't worry so much about getting the really expensive helmets as they do break just as easely as the lesser expensive ones. I've broken several helmets both expensive and not. Didn't really notice the difference.

For goggles, I really like my Scott Voltages for normal weather riding, and then I do carry a pair of Spys with percimmon lenses for flat light riding.
