It's 1 a.m. and as usual, I am awake. How do you guys deal with pet hair? We got 2 cats here. One short hair, one long hair. They both shed but usually not bad at all, until this summer. The long hair cat is shedding like mad. I have read and heard about the furminator deshedding tool that has to be used every 2 weeks. I didn't want to deal with that so I called some grooming places. They wanted 35-45 to shave my cat. I almost called this thread "shaved *****" but didn't want to get your hopes up! No way was I paying someone that kind of coin to shave my cat. So I tried to shave her with my head shaver, didn't work out. So I picked up a pet shaver for 30 bucks. Worked decent, just took a little time and holding her down and what not. I did screw up and cut her whiskers off on one side (cut them in half). Internet says they will grow back. My girl started crying when I did that Before/After/Hair I figured with her shaved, it will be easier to control and she will be cooler and more comfortable. We got one of those pet hair vacuums too. Man is that thing friggen awesome! I went over the house with our normal vacuum, then I went over it with the new pet vacuum and filled it 2x! Anyways, I was bored and figured I would start a new conversation piece.

She looks pretty good. After you said you shaved your Uumm... CAT, I was expecting to see a bunch of divits and all splotchy places, but it looks pretty consistant.
My indoor cat Milly is a short hair, so I just stay on top of the brushing and the vitiman paste I give her is supposed to help with a healthy coat.

Our 2 cats dont shed much so you dont really notice it but our pug on the other hand sheds like crazy, if she so much as rubs on any dark colored clothing you get covered in short white pug hair. It gets annoying but you learn to put up with it i guess.

Have you tried an undercoat brush? That's what I use and can't believe how much hair I get out, but you gotta stay on top of the brushings. This year for some reason has been really bad.

I use the furminator and the furminator deshedding shampoo. My dog is a lab/ shepard mix so she will always shed. I furminate her about 2-3 times per week except when she is blowing her coat and then I do it every day. It takes me no more than 5 minutes if I keep up on it.
I should give you a -1 for not having the guts to call this thread "Shaved my Pus*y" Haha

I got a furminator here to try out on her and my other cat that I am not shaving (short hair). Will give feedback wehn I am sobered up! Either way, shaving is the easy maintenance free way out LOL and makes her cooler in these HOT days. So many cat haters here haha.. It is hard to be a cat hater.. Lola is on my lap while I type right now. Some cats are great, some are jerk offs.. these cats were SPCA rescues are are great little animals that have a happy second chance at life. I love em! They do nothing wrong and just want to sleep with us, eat, cuddle, and let outside in the fenced in backyard on occasion. Low maintainance. I like dogs.. but too much maintenance for me. SPCA animals are the key for me.. love saving them and worth every penny when you see their eyes.
