How is everyone's summer going? Mine hasnt been the greatest, it hasnt been near hot enough for it being July now! I actually had the heater on in my car yesterday while driving home! I never remember that happening around here.
Anyone else having lower than average temps that hopefully lead to a better than average winter?

I thought they changed "global warming" to climate change now because they realized they were wrong but still need a word to scare people with.

It was really really hot for a while. Our summer basically started in March though. This past week its been very cool, in the mid 70s to low 80s. I was at 4-H camp and we are usually dying from the heat but this year i was actually cold at times. I baled straw yesterday and today and its probably the coolest weather ill get to bale in. The week before camp my brother and one of our employees almost passed out because it was so hot. Right now it feels warmer inside than outside.

New Hampshire has been crappy. We've had rain for the past couple weeks, I've never been in a sweatshirt and pants so late into the summer. It's really nice today but it'll probably rain later. That has been the pattern so far.
Hopefully it's turning around, our fields are junk right now.

Most are adopting the new terminology for just that.
They are not all on the same page of music now though because they do not actually use facts and so they do not see the need to keep up.
People are still sheep and continue to follow their crap though.
In the 70s, people were all uptight about how "man is causing a new ice age"
In the 80s, 90's and very early 2000's the same groups are all up tight about "man causing global warming"
and now the same groups yet are all up tight about "man made climate change"
Are ACG and I the only ones who see this pattern and ask WTF?

Highs and lows, some days are near 100 and are so humid you think you were in the jungles, and some days are extremely pleasant and 75. I love this summer, I'm getting so much done on the wheeler!

We took the boat out for the first time this summer. I've been doing alot of dirtbiking this summer. Me and a couple friends are riding 2-3 times a week. Infact, were going out to a sand pit in a couple hours.
As far as weather goes it hasn't really been extremely hot. There were a couple days that it was in the 90's.

Traverse City (Cherry Capital of the world) had to import Cherries this week for there week long cherry fest. First time in a while. Cold weather has been shocking the trees.
Has not been that hot in West MI either, sounds like this week will be back where we should be.
My conclusion...if we dont get the warm weather then the Great Lakes will not be as warm = less lake effect snow, But on the flip side I heard that this winter in MI is going to be 5-10 degrees colder than last winter. :)Only time will tell.

Well,
After getting injured in January and being down till May, I got a bit behind on my house/yard work.. Catching up has been fun, here's a 5 day span for me that covered Wednesday July 1 thru Sunday July 5:
Renting a stump grinder and grinding 2 large stumps, getting 14 tons of gravel delivered and spreading it out (by hand), getting married, golfing 18 holes, going on a fishing charter, building 2 bonfires, blowing off over $300 worth of fireworks, and launching an un-specified amount of golfballs into orbit with the launcher I received as a wedding gift... Pics of the carnage will get uploaded to the gallery at some point.

The pipe is 5/16" wall x 18" long and appx .010" larger ID than a golfball OD, and extruded into shape, so no welds or weak points, and the base is 10" x 12" x 1/2" steel plate.
Top view of my golf ball launcher
Side view of my golf ball launcher.
Seeing as it was my wedding I did keep the charges low.. Mostly golfballs were going ~100' up, charged by a firecracker.
Using some other mortar charges we got the distance up to ~300', and by using "bad donkey" fireworks as mortar charges, we never saw the apogee of the golfballs, they simply blasted out of sight. And oh, I love the sound of those things!!! (to those un-used to DIY fireworks, the bad-donkey is about the equivelent of launching a 1/4 stick of dynamite 100 feet in the air - they rattle the windows and set off car alarms)
I am going to drill and tap a hole in the tube near the base for next year, that will allow cannonwick to be used as a igniter, then I can use flash powder. That will make it a LOT cheaper to operate.
This is all getting launched from my launchpad carved out of a tree... (pictures of that later) ...that has a built in blast shield 6" thick for spectator safety.

Ugly_old_Poo_kid That is a very cool set up. Too bad I live so close to people and less then 1500ft from the police station because basically any type of firework(s) is illegal. It would be cool to set off a bunch on the 4th.
Cool wet and rainy for us here in on the coastal part of Maine. Only if the temp would drop 25f and we could have snow instead. Hows the tourism in other states? Anyone else notice a difference?

Upper michigan has been crappy. We had about 2 weeks of 80s in june, now it wont even break out of the 60's for the highs and 40's for the lows.
