I just purchased a KN filter for my silverado.. then I read online that there are alot of people with problems because the oil and dirt is getting on the mass air flow sensor (which can also give you bad gas mileage).
It is even a technical service bulletin on alldata it is happening so often!
I am taking it back tomorrow if I can find the damn receipt.

what year is your dodge? if its multi port fuel injection, ive heard the spacer wont do much but change the sound a little at high revs. i know on Chevy trucks spacers actually hinder them.
i also bought a k&N for my truck(98 5.7 vortec), no problems yet, but i haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy. although my truck is a big one, so it i don't really expect much millage out of it.

Both are a waste of money on a stock truck. Some diesels will gain performance with a intake, mostly when putting out 100+hp over stock.

On my 2000 I noticed an increase in gas mileage but I also added exhaust so I'm thinking it was probably due to the combination. Matt, I ran a K&N cold air intake on my truck for 3 years and never once had that problem but you are correct. I've heard of others having the problem. The key is to use the right amount of oil and not overdue it on spraying the filter. A good even coat will do it. I plan on putting another one on my new '04.
A added side bonus if anyone even gives a crap, when you have stock exhaust and a K&N, the truck gets much louder when you get on the gas.

I have a k&n filter on my 02 serria and the oil and dirty actually caused my m.a.s sensor to kick the bucket, just do to dirt and oil getting on the filiment. I have since replaced my m.a.s with a new one and expect it to only last a year or 2 at most.
cheers
ps throttle spacer are a waste of cash on pretty much stock motors

you wont have to touch the air fuel mixture unless its a highly modified engine but on stock i will be fine, you wont see much horse out of it maybe barely notice it if any in certain rpm ranges but the shiny ones sure do look perty :)

How about a computer upgrade? I know they are expensive, but I've heard they can give you a lot more gains and adjustability. I worked selling auto parts for a few years and have heard nothing but b!tches about those tornado products. People say they are a waste of money.

a cam would help, shift kit would make your tranni engage better, gear the rear end lower but youd lose some gas mileage and top end, theyr all kinda spendy but those are the cheapest ones i can think of that would really make a noticable difference, or like xlt rider said a computer upgrade would work pretty good
