Anytime mid week.....Too many racer wannabees on the weekends. I sometimes go to my cabin (20 miles west of there) and ride sunday afternoon and mondays. Fridays and Saturdays truly SUCK

Why not stay in one of the outskirting towns where the trails are less traveled and in better shape!

I stayed at this place, Good rates, good trails, and away from crowd!

beginnig of Jan thru mid march normally

The last time I was there was 3 years ago and it was a great trip. A couple of miles to Wolverine, close to the Trails, and boondocking areas also. Cabins are awesome and very comfortable. If I remember right it was like 60 bucks a night back then.(2 bedrooms)

well worth the money. If you bring a spouse or girlfriend, just be informed your many miles away from a strip mall or anything that resembles a mall. There is a good bar a mile down the road.

My woman and I are going to ride up from my cabin this year and stay a Sunday night. She has never stayed there so I have told her its a must do this winter.

I usually stay in Grayling right off the interstate. It's nice because it's quick and easy to get to and there are plently of places around to eat and shop if needed. We stayed at Days Inn last year. I don't recall how much it was but I think it was around $50 a night. There is a trail that you can hop right on at the hotel, it worked out great. We went over MLK weekend and trails were AMAZING! I liked riding out of Grayling. It's a haul but you can make a trip up to the bridge and back in a day. You can also make the southern loop another day. Grayling is really close to Frederic only maybe 15-20min sled ride?

JUST MAKE SURE YOU STOP AT THE FREDERIC INN FOR A SUPER WET BURRITO!!!!!!! mmmmmm....my mouth is watering as I type this! LOL

Ray's Retreat in Waters is popular with snowmobilers, might want to check that out as an option as well.

"Dodger" is correct in saying that the trails get beat up on the weekends. The #7 trail that runs north and south between Grayling, Frederick, Gaylord, Wolverine and points further north gets beat to a pulp very quickly.

Which ever way you go, have fun!

If you want, keep my name, I live right on trail #4 between Old 27 and Mancelona and I can update you on trail conditions at any time. We are right in the middle of a Lake Effect snow band(so is Dodger!) and I have seen things change very fast

waters inn in waters is also nice, right across the street from the "keg' just north of "the swamp" and just south of "the stampede saloon" all good places to eat and have a "drink" . we go up every year from superbowl sunday and leave the following friday morning....trails are amasing then and you can ride anywhere and not find too many rough spots in the trails. you can go to www.johndee.com and find most of these places there and click on their web cams too.

2001 600 edge X almond spring on primary with 60gm wieghts, s&s rumble pack, gutted air box 6" woodys doolys carbides,196 woodys 1 1/4" studs
