Just because you rode Daddies sled once does not mean you know what you are talking about. You are 15 and have already proved in this thread you have no idea what you are talking about. You are a child stick to what you know, stickers, baked cans and 24 inch risers and leave the real info to people who actually own one of these sleds.

Once? ok then, like I said before, I ride my dads srx more than my snowmobile. I ride it to school and anywhere else I feel like going. What did I say that prooved I know nothing? I said it is really fast, and I thought it had a good suspension. Stickers? I took them off from the previous owner of my sled because it ruins the looks, baked cans??? 24 inch risers, ok then, my 6 inch risers is just a little bit shy of 24 just for the info.

2002 1/2 zr 440 sno pro
-D&D clutching
-Fox shocks
-6 inch bar risers
-C&A skis
-1.5 track
-RSI handguards w/ billet mounts
-RSI mountain bar

I worked at a dealer that sold Cat, Yamaha, & Ski-Doo. I am good friends with the local Polaris dealer. I have ridden all of the sleds listed in various states of tune. A few of my observations.

Yamaha fit & finish is second to none. They are well built machine. Stock for stock, they will not run with the others on high end. With a little tuning, they are very respectable.

The Machs are also well built. And they have an unbelieveable motor, a good runing one is as fast or faster than a stock T-cat. In my opinion, the chassis is a little overbuilt & heavy but the rest of the package more than makes up for it.

I don't have as much saddle time on the Polaris as the others. The stock machines were strong but didn't have the pull of the Cat or Ski-Doo. With a little tweeking/tuning though, they run hard. With a little more, they are a force to be reckoned with, nice machine.

The T-Cat. Fit & finish isn't so great, some times the Cats look like they were put together in a high school Ag class. We used to pick up race sleds at the factory that still had wet loctite & alum shavings on the tunnel, they were FRESH of the line. Kinda big, a little heavy BUT if you want a sled that is an absolute blast to ride, I'd pick the Cat.
Your original post says you want a fast, dependable sled. In my opinion the Cat is the most bang for the buck, stock for stock. The early models had stator issues but the years you are looking at are pretty much trouble free. I own a couple that have pretty high mileage & I've never had a serious issue with any of them. Content to cruise at 30 on the trails but when you hit the lake, odds are you'll be one of the first to the other side.

Like I said, all are good machines. My personal picks are

1. Cat

2. Mach

3. Polaris

4. Yammi.

I like anything fast enough to do something stupid on

i have a 1998 polaris indy xlt special 600 triple and i think that it is an awesome sled!!! even with the stock canister it sounds awesome and has always started up... we even had it started when it was below zero in accouple of pulls...the only thing i don't like is that to turn you have to sit down because the bars are in an aquard position... other than that great sled. one question though... how much hp does it have? it is bone stock... i will possibly be selling mine in a year and upgrading to a 2002 skidoo mxz x 700

Storm's last year was 1998. They made a red, aggressive Chassis XCR 800 in 1999. So yes, they did make them in 1999.

Yes it is heavy, but it is only a couple lbs heavier than the Gen II. And I mean only like 2.

It may come down to which sled you can find the best deal on. I am bias towards cat. If you go with the t-cat, you have to watch for water pump failures, stator failures and get a track on it that hooks up. The 98 came with an .850 height lug track and it spins way too much. The T-cat is easy to mod, but the 1998 year is a bit of a bastard year when it comes to getting pipes to fit it. A 100% trailable and reliable motor is a D&D style ported 1000 with pipes on it. You can get 185-190hp out of it and it is as reliable as stock. I've seen all models run good, but you never fully know what has been done to them and how reliable they are. There are some good deals out there so keep your eyes open.

i can back it up though you keep saying back stuff up well i am. my freinds dad has an srx 700 with aftermarket pipes and he ****ing blew away a xcr 700 so i could only imagine that he would edge out the xcr 800, from what i herd those sleds are slow out of the gate and so much more heavier than the srx

once again ,my buddy had a 2002 srx ,it was a nice sled ,me i have a 99 xcr 800 (yes thhey made the power valved xcr 800 in 99) as far as racing goes it was close we would trade off win's of course the big 99 agressive is heavy ,plus i wieght more than 100 lbs more than he does plus over a foot taller ,,the srx had a clutch kit my xcr has a clutch kit ,etc ,pretty close ,but on packed snow could walk the dog with him ,but in other places like deeper snow he could edge me out ,and as far as being slower out of the gate thats not true ether all depends on how well you got every thing set up although no matter how many stud's you have will still spin out some ,my friends are amazed that it will dig threw the snow frozen dirt and even pavement for up to 30 feet on take off

A 99 xcr 800

mid Il alway's waiting for snow,moving north(way north)2001 thundercat 99xcr 800 97SPX ULTRA 96 zrt 600&800,92 doo plusX 92 v max 4 750
