just wondering what the difference is in the later model storm 800 s compared to the xcrs of around the same time ? or was the xcr 800 the replacement for the storm ?

Storm was about 5 Hp less than the XCR 8 also the XCR has more bottom end power for quicker acceleration.

The storm and the xcr are both 800 cc's but completely different engines. The storm did not have variable exhaust and the xcr did. 98 was the last year of the storm and the xcr took over in 99 in the aggressive chassis and that was the first year for the all new 800 variable exhaust fuji engine.

the storm was in the aggressive chassis from 1996-98.
as stated above, the XCR 800 has VES, and was in the overweight and bulky aggressive chassis for 1999, but was upgraded to the Gen 2 chassis from 2000 until its last year in 2003

-holeshot skid plate
-fox reservoir front track shock
-fox front shocks
-xenon low-beam bulb (very helpful at night)

Just add gas and snow!

And another thing to add, the STORM was underpower compared to other 800's. VES 800 engines were producing more than 5hp over the storm engines - I think if I recall, '97 Storm was the best with 146hp in a stock form. WL
