bigger tank, re gear it and do some shock work are the main things. some cases different studs or carbides because race sleds are set up aggressive

i know with some of the 440s you need to mess around with the cooling also they make these things for chainsaws and stuff to mix your fuel. dont mess with oil injection you can just keep a premesaured container of oil in your jacket and just add it to your tank and shake it around

no but let me ask you this was the sled running with the low compression heads already? if so you really do not need anything to "ride" it but for it to be a decent trail sled the rest of the stuff is a good idea.

no offense tughillboy but unless you are really adding to the topic please don't post. so many of your posts lately do not add to the topic at all just read and learn

Thats the junk Mikuni TMX carbs for ya.

I bought a 2003 rolling chassis last year and did a liquid 440 drop in. Mine is now completly trailable and is scarey quick. It can be drove by my lady all day long and does not load up.

I tossed the TMX carbs and replaced with 34Vm roundslides.
my chassis already had the larger tank and my engine had the trail head.
I used electrics (stator and cdi)off a 1998 XCR440 (I junked the timing switch and the 2 solenoids)
I used the harness off the same sled.
My engine was a 2000 xc440 sp so its the same basic engine (small block mouse motor)
Jetting and clutching was just as a 1998 XCR 440 would be set up.
The hardest thing I ran into was the pipe. My 440 cylinders(1999 edge style sled and 2000) have 4 bolts on each side that bolt the y-pipe on.(8 total not 6) So when I bought a prox 440 pipe set up I could not use the y-pipe. And my stock one would hit the shock brace. I had to cut and reweld the y-pipe at a different angle to use. It turned out nice and looks good.
I am not saying you need to do all of this by no means. Also your low end bog my be a simple fix. I have seen people all over the net pi$$ed off at the tunability (or lack of) of the TMX carbs. Just my 2 cents and a idea of worked for me to make an awesome trail sled and ditch banger.

I've never had a ten But I've had 5 two's
