I am really thinking hard on getting a new sled this year. I read some reviews on the 09 dragon. I hear people are haveing problems and needing to flash the fuel systems and still lack power or it is boging out. I have never rode a 4storke and wonder if I will be displeased with it or not? anyone have any thoughs. It's either I get this sled or give my current sled more muscle and style..... Then find something used for the wife hate riding her bitch to the bar!!
oh beer is empety time to stop type and get more!

Mine has plenty of power!
NOTHING handles as well on trails.

Nice pic been a while since I got a new sled and never really like the EFI sleds or the 4stroke's. However this sled is making me change my views fast plus I had a few concerns.

My old XC 500 in the Gen II chassis could do that off a drift too. ha.

Slednecks is true power though.

The 800 is really fun. And now with polaris releasing new pistons head and reflash I wouldn't be scared to buy one. My 08 800 has been down 3 times already. But I am confident that polaris will take care of the problem now. The power truly is something else. It's a really fun snappy motor.

Nope 100% 4-Stroke why i'm soo afraid to buy too many reports of not even getting over 100mph or blowen motors. I guess if i'm this nerves i should get a switchback.....

I did more looking after your comment and i was looking this sled up on:
http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/newveh...s75460.htm
Which confirms you saying 2-stroke(which i though it was at frist)

when i made this post i was reviewing the sled from:
http://www.snowmobile.com/specs/polaris/...p/800.html
This site said it was a 4-stroke and i came right to this site to see what people had to say.........can't trust anything now a days....

-Does anyone know if they are shipping these from the factory with the new changes already?

^^^^^the 2010's probably aren't even built yet. My dealer won't have any rush's until the first part of november. I'm sure they'll have all updates done and you'll be good to go.

Which year dragon do you want? I wouldn't get an 09 unless it has the 10 fix in it. Who knows if that will fix the issues. I've burnt my 09 down twice and wouldn't buy another Polaris 800 until it has been proven for a year and then only buy if they keep the same setup. As for handling and power when it is running good it is awesome. By far the sweetest sled I have rode.

ACG,

I agree with you after talking to a local dealer it's a 09 model. Has not had the reflash or new head/pistons for the updates. To many people on other threads have posted bad stuff about it. I will just get a bomber for the wife for now, then put some more muscle into my 600 xc sp edge. I shall see what polaris does in 2010 for it. It is a powerful sled though hope they fix the problems soon.

-Question: Did they warrenty the work for the sled or did you have to fork the cash over?

I wouldn't be to worry as the "new" fix should cure most if not all of the problems. I would buy the sled, get a PCIII for it and ride it like you stole. I plan to do that this coming year on an 09 800 possibly boosted!!!!

Yes you did hear it bog. But you did not hear the stumble. :P My voltage regulator, (another issue with the 800's) had been failing on my for about a month leading up to that video. My whole dash gauge would randomly go out, and when that happened it would bog, like you heard there. To get it back on you have to stop, let it idle for a few secs, (as you saw me do) And continue on your way. That first video ends where it does because my voltage regulator gave out right about that time. And it does not run with out it. So that marked the end of my riding season as the regulators were on back order for about 2 months. I did have the famous mid range bog for a while, quite bad actually, but that was fixed with the latest reflash

My engine is now warrantied until March 2010 because it blew up within the warranty period. I have had 2 full page invoices with nothing but WARRANTY down the price side so Polaris is standing behind their product.

From what I have read, voltage regulators were a big contributing factor to the 800s melting down. The first time mine melted down the top end it wasnt that and then it took out the bottom end 200 miles later. Both times they said it wasn't anything they normally see.

I saw a post on another site where 2 people where complaining about the same thing. They however did not say if it was fixed cause they took the sleds back. They didn't even get 50 miles in.....

I meant stumble... it was annoying when you would hold wide open for a while, let off and tried to go wide open again... It sounds like a jake brake on a tractor trailer. cant wait to get the updates then add the PC III for better performance...

My sled ripped all season, only 1066 miles on it, but i had the PC III when there was only around 150 miles on it. LIke i said before, there was a considerable difference in performance when it was warm outside.

I got a e-mail from a dealer i was talking with about the 800's here is what he had to say..

"You must be reffering to the 800 engines. There was a reflash for the 800
last season that help the issue some of them were having. Two weeks ago
Polaris anounced that there is going to be an update kit for the 2009 models
which will reflash them again, replaced the exhaust silencer, replace the
pistons and rings, and replace the heads. This will be done at no expense
to the customer. Once this update is done there will be no more issues with
the 800 engine. The kits should be out in a few weeks."

Hope this helps anyone with their concerns on this model it has for me. I will wait unt'll this kite is avaiable and get a new sled later in the year.

Sounds like a brand new engine for me. I have a new crank with 0 miles on it and a new top end with about 200...so another new top end this summer.
