Hello,
I am wanting to add some upgrades to my snowmobile this summer (mostly cosmetic) and I am wanting some opinions. I want to add a windsheild that will look good with the stock color scheme. It is blue with red RMK graphics. I was thinking about a chrome Cobra 11" windsheild. I then wanted some handgaurds and was wondering if the 11" windsheild would accomadate enough room for the bars to turn all the way.(There is a 3 inch rise on them now). I was thinking about blue handgaurds to contrast with the chrome windsheild. How do you all think this would look? Also what would be a good handgaurd at a decent price, I was thinking about the Cycra Snowmobile DX ones or that RSI Racing Ones. I want a handgaurd that will mount between my grab bar and the controls.
Thanks,
Jason

I smell a newby.
Ive got a 99 sks, the same sled as yours, only ever so different - and older.
Definitly get some plastic skis. THe windshield should work fine. Get some powermadd handguards and save some money. Other possibilities are racing braces, suspension work, handguard mirrors, handlbar hooks(what i consider a must), and maybe a skidplate. Very nice sled, hope you enjoy it!

I already have plastic skis, Handlebar hooks and a skidplate for the machine. I also use a mirror for my glove which works perfect for me. I am in progress of doing the suspension for my weight and riding style. I am very happy with the power and just wanted to make my sled customized to my taste so it is not the same as every other sled around. I just need to make sure everything would work out before I order the products off the internet, it is harder to return.
And what is your opinion on a newby??

newbys are great if they don't try to be a smartass and make dumb and silly claims. SO far you seem alright.
The chrome sheilds are a good add on, I can't help you with the hand guards, never used them.

Thanks for the help XCR440. I really appreciate when people like you chime in and help out. Now all I need is some opinions on some handgaurds.
Thanks,
Jason

First thing i ever did when i got when i got my rmk was bust out the sawzall and cut that damn sway bar off.
But i would not recommend this if you do alot of trail riding.

Yea I do spend a lot of time on the trails so cutting the sway bar wouldnt help me out any. Thanks for the opinion tho. I was looking at RSI and I wasnt aware of this discount, I will have to contact them and check.
Thanks,
Jason

I just bought rsi handguards and billet mounts. I have one side installed but the clamp threads are stripped. You will get a 10% discount off of everything from rsi. You just send a pm to them snd they will send you a code. It all works out.

First of all do you want a blue or red color scheme?
I really like the look of Powermadd handgaurds. If I were you I would try to get some grey and blue or black and red. Also i would get rid of the stock bar cover and put on a nice blue or red bar pad. I also think it would look better with a smaller chrome windshield.

The stock bar cover is gone and there is a powermadd blue and grey one there. Can you mount powermadd handgaurds on the other side of the controls where it is just open metal instead of getting around the handwarmer wires and the grips?? I was thinking that it would be easier if I was able to do it this way and it could be reversable.
Thanks,
Jason
