You will not gain anything worth while on a stock truck, you are flowing plenty of air the way it is. What kind of mileage are you getting? 4x4? High miles?

What engine and trans??

IMO - I don't think it's going to help that much. You may notice a little difference, but is it worth it?

I like to save money, so on my 4.8 vortec I did a little homeade ingenuity.

You can have 2 options, re-use stock filter, or buy an aftermarket (K&N) intake cone filter.

Take the airbox and remove the whole bottom "section" from where the intake sucks. Loosen the hose clamp and "spin" the filter so it is now facing the top, the filter wont stay in alone, so take some epoxy, or strong glue and make it work., then tighten the clamp so the filter is now facing forward/upwards. Or, buy a K&N clamp on and put it there instread of the box.

Alot of "ebay companies" now sell just the tubing for intakes around 30-40$, buy that and go to napa and buy a K&N instead of the cheap one you woulda got with the ebay intake.

Its no AEM or anything, but it helps a bit.

You would be better off spending your money on replacement parts/tuneup.

^ Agreed.

Intake = total waste

It would be like putting a 2 inch long track on a 1979 arctic cat jag 340. Ain't gonna do a damn thing.

I would say just buy a K&N filter and leave it the way it is.

^^^^^^^
Exactly,

A good tuneup will help a bit, rebuild the distributor, new plugs/wires, new air filter(stock), change the oil regularly, and there might be a difference. My grandpa had these "pills" you put in your gas tank, and he went from 18-20 mpg in his truck, to around(not kidding one bit)24 mpg. His van got an extra 6-7 too. He cant get them anymore because the government is saying something about how they cant sell it. They were awesome, I'll see if I can get the name of them.

Tell me what they are I would love for my truck to go from 6-8 mpg to even 15mpg would be nice.

What type of intake is on it now?

I'll see if i can get a hold of him later today, but he cant get them anymore, our wonderful government wont let the company sell them right now. He also has the Cat. Converter off his truck, since he doesnt need to have emissions tested where he lives.

Stick with the OEM parts or a better brand like MSD. Go to your dealer for them.

Stay away from Accel, bosch and the like. Accel parts USED to be good, but now are nothing more than cheap aftermarket parts that are no better than Wells. Bosch is also a company that USED to make good quality parts, stay away from them. Why do you think AutoZone sells them??? They are cheap!! As I have found out (from working there and putting their crap on my vehicles), most of what they stock in their stores is nothing more than crap!!

Example: I bought a Motorcraft battery about 5 years ago, it's still going strong.
I also bought a Duralast battery about 1.5 years ago and have had to replace it twice, next time I'm getting a refund. (It has a 3 year free replacement.)

1995, the last year of the TBI. I, myself own one of those. great engines that last forever if you keep up on maintenance. I gutted out the cat and installed a flowmaster exhaust system on mine. not because I was looking for performance, but because it was a hellava deal from summit and my exhaust was rotting off. I did notice a bit more pull in the upper RPM range with this system. But I think that's about as far as one can go with these choked off engines and maintain reliability. If your going to start swaping intakes and other nonsence then I would suggest you find another engine and build it from scratch. I'm guessing that being a '95 it has a few miles on the clock (210,000 on mine) Adding performance parts to a tired engine is only going to lead into a nosedive straight to the junkyard. been there, done that.
