Hey all, I just figured I would throw another post out there for some help with my 1992 wildcat 700 (carbed). For a quick lowdown on the sled I got it used from a man and it was my first sled, At the time I really didn't know what to look for but unfortionatly found it after it was purchased. The sled will randomly bog and die, I have checked almost everything on the sled so Will just post a description of what happens and then will let you decide. When the sled runs great it runs great, fast a ever acceleration no bogging or anything, however at random points it begins to bog so low to a point that it will not run? This stumps me because what could be working so perfectly one second but so poorly the next? The bog happens at any point on clear trails or deep powder and shallow water crossings. Moisture is not entering the air box as I have checked after it bogs out so what could it be? Electrical? Any thoughts or ideas thow them out no mater how out there that they seem I am desperate to get this running reliably this year! Thanks NWR

Hmm. I will take a look, It is just mind boggling to me that it can run like a bat out of hell for one minute and then the next not want to move an inch. Give it some time and you can coax it back into running great, usually at least. Thanks though I will check that, NWR

What does it take to "coax it back"?

95 - Storm 800 - Modded - AKA: FrankenStorm - Totalled near 100mph at Tug Hill!
96 - XLT/SP with Storm 800 trip/trip and now EFI - FrankenStorm II lives...
95 - RXL -- Sale Pending --
05 - Edge 800 long track - Stayin' stock for now..

Sounds like a stator issue to me

Well it can be a number of things, the main thing is to let it sit and idle for a few min and then very slowly blip the throttle to bring the rpms back up. What's odd to me is that some times it works and others it doesn't. Changing the plugs generally will help but is not nessisarry most of the time.

Motodeficient - What are the signs that a stator is going? Is there anyway that I can check its opporation? That is one area that I have not look into really good, any information you could give would be great!

Im thinking the stator is getting hot and quitting on you. Then when the stator cools down it will run again. Buy yourself an OHM reader and test the stator after it bogs out

Your description make's Me think along the line's of a Fuel Issue.
Have you checked the fuel pickup line in the tank, (Filter clogging, water in the tank?)
Also check the TSS (Throttle Safety Switch) a bad TSS, or throttle bushing's can cause all kind's of Strange symptom's, and most people start thinking Stator right away.
I've heard of folk's putting 3-4 different stator's in the motor, only to find out Eventually that it was the TSS not being activated by the throttle pin because the bushing's were worn out.
There's a thread stickied at the top of the Arctic Cat sub forum, it's titled about ZL/ZR/ZRT bogging issue's, but actually pertain's to All Cat's since the introduction of the TSS.
It Could actually be something as simple as worn throttle bushing's.
Rick

Hmm. I will look at the TSS issue that you discribe. . . Can I bypass the TSS to see if that is the issue? I will look into the link above for more info. I dont think that is a fuel issue as I have verified it and all seems to be working correctly. Thanks for all the help, you guys are great. . . NWR

Just looked at the link and answered my question on disabling it. Thanks again
