Hey everyone!
New to the forum.
I am looking for some answers on our 2007 Yamaha Apex.
My girl and I both purchased these machines new 2 years ago and ever since we have had problems with overheating. This occurs during groomed trails. Once we run through deep snow it goes away. Last year we had the extra cooler added to the rear of both machines. This still is not helping the issue the machines are both overheating and at about the same time.. What else can we do? The dealer is telling me there is nothing wrong with the sleds. . HELP!

there over heating because nt enough snow. but have your dealer put on ice scratchers ask them what ones will be the best because some dont work good enough.

Scratcher's are basically for the hifax....not going to do much to get snow up to the heat exchangers,Isnt the Apex a four stroke with a radiator?

Maybe find a way to install a fan near the radiator?!? That might help cool the motor down.

When you're riding on hard pack, remember to dip off the side of the trail into the softer snow every once in a while.
That will usually get enough snow up to the heat exchanger's to keep it cool.

ice scratchers are for little or hard pack snow they shoot snow onto the heat exchangers which makes it cool.

Its summer!

Try scratchers, talk to your dealer, but it sounds like you have hard pack snow and not getting snow to your exchangers, or driving to slow not throwing up enough snow to cool

Welcome to the site

Fix it till its broke!

Maybe there is trapped air pockets in your cooling system or the thermostat needs to be replaced, sometimes they stick or are defective.
Also check the heat exchangers to see if the fins are packed with mud. A good pressure washing can help too.

Afew years ago a group of us went to the UP and one of the guys just picked up his brand new Apex, he had the same problem on groomed trails. We ran into 3 other people (same sled) that was having the same problem. We would pack snow on his running boards and around his feet, 5 min. later he would pull over and the snow was melted and he had to stop again. The dealer in Traverse City told him the same thing, nothing wrong and you should ride faster to get the air flowing.
Just like Festus33 said try and get off the trail as much as possible.

YEP TUG! I'm doing the same for an XLT engine i'm building for a kart/mud rail thing im doing. Going to run a radiator from a heater core as a matter of fact, and use a littl 12 volt fan, and it should work just fine
