Bought my dump truck in 04 with 750,000 miles on it. Turned over 900,000 miles last week working up by Finland. Hoping to get 1 million miles on it before I have to do the motor. The whole drive train except the motor has been rebuilt in the last 4 years and the motor still runs strong.
It might be an old truck but I keep it in good running order and the good part about it is that it's paid for.

Hoping to get 1 million miles.

Parked up at the Knotted pines where I stayed at last week.

If you can get 11,000 miles on a 500 Polaris without touching the motor, I have confidence we will have the opportunity to see that trucks odometer reset itself

It's all about the ride to get there, the destination doesn't matter!

Paid for is great, and it's lookin' pretty darn nice for an "old truck" as you say. If you keep the motor up like you do the body, I would believe you would easily see a mil +.

Wow talk about a truck that has probably seen it all... I get bored of a vehicle after 10,000 miles.

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. Rangers Lead The Way!.."All the way!" <<<<<1st Bat, 75th>>>>>

Hard to believe a truck that nice looking has that many miles.

I just hope you don't have the same luck I did.

My old jeep cherokee was in perfect condition with 100,000 highway miles on it. I was working at a car lot on the network one day, and had a half hour delay for someone to show up and let me into a data closet. So I spent that time looking at new vehicles, and decided that I'm keeping my jeep for at least another 5 years. 20 minutes after leaving the lot, some woman ran a red light and totalled my jeep. This is when I discovered how soft airbags were.

I hope you break a million before a rebuild.. Are you noticing any signs of motor fatigue?

Motor still runs strong. No blow by and I go thru 3/4 of a gallon of oil in 6000 miles and no anti freeze. Gotta love the old 3406-B cats.

Definately sounds like a winner.. ..a million seems plausable.

Geez i can't believe its been that far without a overhaul, i;m sure its had the lower bearing all replaced as cat maintence asks for? At work we are usually overhauling n-14 and ISX engines alittle under a million but have seen afew over a million and Cummins overhaul mileage on the ISX is 1.2 million. At my old fleet job there was a guy with a 379 pete and DD series 60 with 1.5 million miles and never been overhauled bad leaked oil like crazy.

I spend money i don't have, on parts i don't need, to impress people i don't know.

I wheel and deal cars trucks and equipment so i haul a old drop deck with the white ( she will get a fresh coat of paint soon and the roof fairing will go in the dumpster) the tractor pictured has a million on the clock but im sure it had a major.

Must have been a super polaris, jk.

Take a video of the odometer rolling over. It also is a symbol of how you take care of your stuff. It looks brand new

425 HP 3406B Cat with an 18 speed trans. 411 gears.

It has its dings and dents in it but it gets used hard. Regular maintenance and grease(and LOTS of money) is the key to keeping things in good working order.

i;m sure its had the lower bearing all replaced

Did oil samples on it last year and they checked out OK. Plus I change oil every 5000 to 6000 miles. Good oil pressure still so I'm not worried.

I can understand long haulers getting a million+ miles on their rigs but a dumper? Have you been shipping gravel to Alaska?

After you pass a million, put on another 100k, and sell it. "Well, this friend of mine had it and moved to...uh, er, somewhere, then a couple years later he called me and told me he wanted me to, er, or wait, he died and I inherited the truck, never had a use for it so it just sat, that's why the mileage is so low"

Who ya working for over in Finland? I know the county doesn't have ant projects goin on.

It used to be a over the road truck. When I bought it, it was just converted over. I was the first one to put a load in the box.

Worked at the Tettegouche state park last week. Leaving in about 1/2 an hour to haul blacktop up there from Duluth. 3 trips a day for the next 4 days. Then next week I will be up at the splitrock light house state park for 1 to 2 weeks. We are re doing the roads into the parks.

We used to use bunches of 3406 Cats on wood chippers. I musta did start ups on dozens in my days. The 400-450 Cats were on chippers that would chip 20 inch dia. trees.
One year we bought so many 3412 Cats (650-750hp) that the company received a free engine for christmas.

I hear the lots of money! For repairs plus other stuff, I put a asphalt tail on a new asphalt liner and costed $10,000. Thats why I laugh at people when they see my truck all nice and shiney and all the hours I work, they all say wow there must be a whole lot of money in it, but they dont see the bills and the other things that cost so much.
