I have an update: I have been wearing a long sleeve shirt under my scrubs. I couldn't understand why the boss hadn't said anything when I started, but last week I found out that he did not care as it was a military tattoo. Then a woman Doctor who is a feminist stated to him that it wasn't fair that I could display my tattoo, while the women had to cover theirs. Needless to say he caved ! The ironic thing is that a female Doctor has a tattoo on the back of her neck does not cover it.I am not saying anything about her as I like her, and am not a rat, but It is a bit messed up. I have had 3 interviews this week, and I was sure to ask about my tattoo. So far no one cares, and one of the jobs is in a Lab away from the public, and pays a considerable amount more, and is closer to my home. I do agree my current employer has the right to ask me to cover it, as I have the right to seek employment elsewhere. Thank you for all your intelligent comments !

Sounds like their loss if you go elsewhere! Ashame that feminist had to have a tizzy, because it sounds like your boss understood and would make allowances to people like you who have a tasteful military tat'.

BTW That's a nice looking Formula you have there! Looks like it's in pretty good shapefor it's age.

I really think you answered you're own question about this Tattoo.

There is no dishoner in comvering it up while working. you still know it's there right? i'm assumming the "tat" polciy is a blanket statement soas not to become a subjective discssion about whcih tattoo is acceptable and which are not.

Up to you, but I repsect the fact you served, I also respect the fact you came here to ask others their opinions. But sounds like if you want to keep the job, complying with company policy is an acceptable policy. As far as others at work having tattoo's that may be hard to swallow, but I wouldn't make a big deal about it. Your tattoo represents something much bigger than a silly job.

man I just saw this post and I cannot believe what your previous employer asked you to do. Do they know what country we live in ? Do they realize what Marines have done for us over the years ? The very fact that they asked you to remove / cover it up proves their ignorance. I am proud to say thank you for your service in beruit, I am not even worthy. I have never served but I realize what our military has done for us and I take nothing for granted. What the bleeding heart liberals in this country need to do is go visit a third world country like in south africa, and see how they like the conditions over there. See how every day life is for people. Democracy has its benefits and our country has paid for it with the lifes of our service men / women. It just makes me sick to see how people treat the ones who served for our country. If people would only take their friggin blinders off so they can see how good we have it. Jeez. Sorry for the rant, but I like my freedom. Thanks again for serving our country , you rock dude

I miss my John Deere 340
