I'm looking at picking one of these up to ride this winter. This is my second season and I've never really read much about Yamaha's, but this sled is in pretty good shape and is a really good price. It comes with extra sliders, studded track, extra belt and its got a racing can on it but also comes with stock can.

I'll be parking an 85 formula plus for it so for me its a pretty good upgrade. Just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the sled like good / bad. My main question is how far will a tank of gas get me? I'm hoping its better than that old ski doo lol. But other than that what's good or isn't about the sled...Any advice is appreciated.

A few years about my dad had a 98 or 99 yamaha srx 700 tripple. That sled was so fast. It rode really nice too.

Not as quick as the tripples, also not as good on fuel as the tripples. 8-12 mpg at best.
However it is the most reliable engine yamaha ever made.

I have one and it's a thirsty machine on gas and oil but it pulls pretty good and is very reliable. easy to upgrade the suspension to an extra 10 or a skidoo unit also. I find it hard to find parts when I do need them though.
its fun and I don't think I'll get rid of mine even when I get a new one.

Has about 2700 miles on it. Overall its in really good shape. He wanted 1600 for it but since its a friend he said 1200...That's Canadian btw. The thing I'm most concerned with is fuel mileage which sounds like its not very good...But it has to be better than the formula plus I was riding. Also, they seem to be reliable from everything I've read so that's a plus.

Hey Flash, what's your top speed on it? And how much is it to fill the tank / how far will it take you?

I wouldnt worry about the gas mileage, you should be fine. Sounds like a good deal for being a canadian sled. Engine is bullet proof but suspension isnt the best but it sounds like too good of a deal to pass up. Id say go for it.

Right on guys I think I'm gonna go ahead with it. The rough suspension won't bother me too much...I'm only 23 so I think I can take a beating for a while yet.

Any word on the top speed of the sled? I'm guessing around 80 - 90 MPH

You put a clutch kit on it expect to reach close to 100 mph probably u can reach 100 on a lake or a big groomed field

Forsure it will do 90 mph, Might see 100 on a good day depending on how well it runs.

I've been having clutch setting issues with mine so I can't say top speed for sure but once I'm done tweaking it I'm hoping for close 100 mph.
A tank of gas is maybe $22 to 26 bucks and I can get lots of foolin around with that. never really tried watchin the km go by cuz I usually head for the deep snow and play. 1200 is a good deal and you should snap it up as long as the machine is okay.
