So here I am inside of a week until I'm married. I find myself getting to be a nervous wreck about it, it's not a financial thing at all as everything is payed in full already, but it just seems like the closer it gets the more the nerves kick in. Anyone else have this problem before their wedding? What did you do to calm the nerves?
I hope I die like my grandpa did - quietly in his sleep... not like the rest of the people in the car.

Suprisingly, I wasn't nervous at all before my wedding. I guess it was because I knew I wasn't making a mistake. Another part of it was the fact that I was at home in MN and she was working in HI all summer until a week before our wedding. So when she got to MN, we were so happy to be together that the wedding just flew by. One thing I recommend is just relax and enjoy it. I still don't know where the past year has gone since I've been married.
I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

My brother got married almost a year ago, and he was kinda nervous. It helped that he had been dating his wife for 6 or 7 years, and she went sledding and on vacations with us for a long time. But he wasnt ready to be married. He just hung out with his friends and everything turned out fine. Hopefully your wedding isnt going to be like my brothers friend. Basically all of his friends and family were telling him to just run away. My brother and some of his friends offered to pay for all of his fuels and a hotel room to run away from the wedding. He made a huge mistake by even dating her, and now they are married. We are now taking bets to see how long the marriage will last. Anyways, good luck and i hope you and your wife have a happy marriage.

I don't have advice that has not been said but I know what you mean. I had a girl for 7 years and the wedding thing came up a million times. She was not the one and we knew it. We broke up.
Now, I have been with my current girlfriend for about 4 years and I believe she is the one for me. I love her and things are great. I have come to realize that nothing is perfect and if you get a girl that you know won't cheat on you, has good values, and lets you live your life without her altering it.. she is a keeper.
I am ordering her ring this week after months of research.
What kind of wedding do you have planned? Me and Amanda have talked about it and she and I both are thinking a vacation get away wedding. We will invite family and friends but doubt the will come (which is acceptable!). Then have a reception when we get home. What better way to get married, with your closest friends and family all celebrating for a week together in some great spot.
I am sure nerves would get to me too, even though I love her. Scary knowing you will be with one person forever lol but still "window shopping"

Renee and I were together 4 years and some change before we got married.
I still got a little nervous because, well, I guess because it's normal.
Tuesday the 12th made 9 years of marriage and we are both still happy about it.
Well, she tells me that I am...... lol

Amy and I have been together 6 years, we are having a big wedding with all of our family and friends. 300+ guests to be exact... It has been a year since we got engaged, and I think it's just starting to hit home now. LOL. All the guys at work are telling me "its never too late to change your pants." which is a story in itself.
So here's the pants story. This guy I work with told me this about his uncle Joe's wedding. (keep in mind this guy is an old timer and this story takes place in the 40's.)
it's the day of Joe's wedding in his wife to be's hometown, Joe arrives at the church and seems kinda bummed out. His brother comes up and asks "What's wrong Joe?"
"Well" joe says. "I don't really care for these pants I have on, I wish I would have worn my other pants".
Joe's brother says "Well you know you have about twenty minutes before the wedding starts, why don't you go back to the motel and change your pants"?
"You know" joe says "I think that's just what I'm gonna do." Now 20 minutes later nobody sees Joe, and his brother decides to head for the motel to find him. He gets out the door of the church and around the corner just in time to see Joe jump aboard a freight train, and nobody ever saw him again.
Moral of the story - "it's never too late to change your pants." LoL... This story made me laugh.
I hope I die like my grandpa did - quietly in his sleep... not like the rest of the people in the car.

Just try to surround yourself with good friends, have a few beers, think about sledding. Thats what I did 3 months ago, and it worked like a charm. Granted everyones different and we all react to stress a little differently, but Im sure youll get through it just fine. All perfect marriages start out with a nervous groom, imo, weather they admit it or not, they were nervous at some point.

Haha! just thought this thread had died. Everything went very smoothly, and the reception was EPIC. Sadly no honeymoon as of yet, we have had a busy week so far and it's only getting busier. We close on our brand new house on friday, so no more apartment crap, and I have a 3 stall garage so I can store my sled there! and have trail access right out my front door! The honey moon is scheduled for February... Jamaica here we come! Thank you all for the well wishes.
I hope I die like my grandpa did - quietly in his sleep... not like the rest of the people in the car.
