Some of you may have seen my status a couple weeks ago saying I had picked up a new ride...well here it is.
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It has been owned by my grandparents since new. They decided to utilize the "cash for clunkers" program, and traded in our '89 Chevrolet 1500 field truck on a new '09 Silverado 1500...and sold me this one. It has 111,000 miles, but they haven't been too hard of miles...should still have lots of life left in it. They just put new tires on it a week or so before I bought it; the brakes are new all around also. Enough chit-chat...
As it was when I got it:
First task was to remove the topper (or cap as others call it) and running boards. It already has a drop in bedliner, so to top the bed off I picked up an Access Tonneau cover from a buddy of mine for cheap, and got that installed. After that, it was time to line up some stereo goods. The stereo was put together as follows:
HU: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693
Front: Phoenix Gold RSd 6.5" components
Rear: Polk DB series 4x6" plates
Amp for front/rear: MB Quart DSC450
Sub Enclosure: Dual 10" downfiring box under the back seat
Subs: (2) 10" MA Audio
Amp for subs: Rockford Fosgate Power 450s
While waiting for the stereo stuff to come, it was brought in for rims and exhaust. The rims are Dick Cepek DC-1 in black/machined. For the exhaust, I ran true duals (stock cats) flowing through Thrush welded mufflers (Flowmaster knock-offs), exiting out the sides with 3 1/2" stainless tips.
As it sits now:
 Dual Exhaust
Dick Cepek DC-1 wheels Sub enclosure, seat down
Sub enclosure, seat up Kenwood HU

Quote originally posted by pudamobile Now hopefully it doesn't get dunged up in the city this fall. My '99 F-150 looked good until I took it to school. Take care of it, looks like a heck of a nice pickup!! I consider it a perfect 20...it looks perfect from 20 feet away. It has many, many rock dings and other scratches in it when you get close. I'll have to pick up some touch up paint for the bigger dings so they don't rust as fast. It's still much nicer than my '95 F150 is though...sure rides alot smoother too...Ha. Thanks for the replies. Not sure what it will get next. I gotta get all my bills paid off, then will see how much more I want to spend right away. I got the main things done I wanted to though...Rims, exhaust, and the stereo. I suppose I'll slap an SF sticker on it eventually...all my other rides have one... If anybody recognizes me on the highway with it, feel free to flip me the bird! Just drop me a message later so I know who it was! Ha.

Once these tires wear out, I may install different torsion keys with a block in the rear. Should bring it up 2" or so. I don't feel like forking out $1,000+ for a full 4" lift, and then still need new tires and probably rims at that point. I'll just spend the $300 for keys and blocks, then run a set of 265's. My buddy did the same thing a few years ago and it had a nice stance to it.

I've toyed around with the debadging idea. Debadged with a set of white door handles would clean up the look alot IMO. Also looking at billet grilles and new lights all around...I'll have to look into the newer style tails...

Nice looking truck! It truly did look like an "old mans truck" before you made changes. It looks a lot better now! I like the idea of de-badging and installing some white door handles, clean up the looks. Get rid of as many black pieces as you can.

Well, here is the final look before it gets driven off to school. I stripped the molding and badges off the sides...all I got done in my time limit, as I still needed to wash, clay, polish, and wax it, which was finished about an hour ago. Time to start boxing sh!t up, load up the box, and head off on my journey tomorrow morning. (...damn school...)
